For the first time since Tuesday night, the Oakland Athletics have a run on the board.

They were apparently tired of not being able to score, because they wasted no time. Jemile Weeks led off the game against Luke Hochevar of the Royals with a triple. The next batter was Collin Cowgill, who grounded out to shortstop, plating Weeks. And with that, the A's had their first run in 19 innings.

UPDATE: See Yoenis Cespedes scoring run number two here on the right.

Now the task shifts to breaking that pesky nine-game losing streak -- and they did, 9-3. Earlier Saturday, A's three-hole hitter Josh Reddick wasn't averse to asking for help from the outside ...

[Insert joke on if Reddick smells what The Rock is cookin']

The A's offensive futility for this season hasn't been just a recent thing. As Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com pointed out on Twitter earlier Saturday, the A's were shut out 10 times in their first 53 games, which ties for the most ever at this point in the season since 1918. Of course, the team they tied was the 2005 Astros, who went to the World Series. So maybe the sky isn't falling after all?
