Carlos QuentinWhen the Padres head to Chicago for their series that starts Monday, outfielder Carlos Quentin will likely be with them.

In spring training, Quentin underwent surgery to repair a damaged meniscus in his right knee, and he has yet to play this season. Now, however, the San Diego Union-Tribune tweets that Quentin is close to returning. In fact, he should play during that upcoming series against the Cubs.

Quentin should help the Padres offense, which ranks 28th in the majors in wOBA. To that end, the ZiPS forecasting system tabs Quentin for a 2012 OPS of .802. The real challenge for Quentin, who's already a liability with the glove, will be to patrol the spacious Petco outfield on a compromised knee.
