Coach Kevin O'Connell said Friday that Dobbs will serve as the Vikings' No. 2 quarterback behind starter Nick Mullens in Sunday's game in Detroit.
Dobbs hasn't seen the field for the Vikings since he was benched in favor of Mullens during their Week 14 win at Las Vegas. The 28-year-old had been the Vikings' No. 3 signal-caller for the Week 17 loss to the Packers, but Dobbs will move up a spot on the depth chart for the regular-season finale while rookie Jaren Hall drops to third.
