The Bears intend to release Sims in the near future, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports.

This is an obvious decision since Sims' release saves Chicago $6 million in cap space with less than $400,000 in dead money. After an unproductive 2018 campaign in which he caught just two of four targets for nine yards in eight games, Sims probably won't be in store for a lucrative contract this offseason. His aptitude as a blocker might be enough for him to garner interest somewhere else as a reserve tight end.
