  • Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE

Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Losing out on playing time

Rocchio is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

Dating back to July 8, Rocchio has gone 1-for-19 with eight strikeouts, and his ongoing slump in what had already been an underwhelming season at the plate looks to have cost the 23-year-old his spot in Cleveland's everyday lineup. He'll hit the bench for the fourth time in six games while Daniel Schneemann mans shortstop.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Likely to miss 4-to-6 weeks

Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said Wednesday that Crawford (finger) is expected to be sidelined for 4-to-6 weeks, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Crawford fractured his right pinkie finger when he was hit by a pitch in Monday's game against the Angels. According to Jen Mueller of Root Sports Northwest, Crawford won't require surgery, but he'll need to wear a protective brace over his injured hand for the next couple of weeks and will need significant down time while the finger heals. The Mariners have used Dylan Moore at shortstop in both of their two games without Crawford, and Moore should continue to hold down the position for the next several weeks.

  • Dylan Moore SS | SEA

Mariners' Dylan Moore: Settling in at shortstop

Moore will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Angels.

Moore will make a fifth consecutive start and his second straight at shortstop, which will likely be his primary home for the foreseeable future while J.P. Crawford is on the shelf with a fractured hand. Though his 28.7 percent strikeout rate has played a major part in suppressing his batting average (.206), Moore brings an intriguing blend of pop and speed to the table. Despite not being a full-time player throughout the season, Moore has already tallied eight home runs and 17 stolen bases over his 286 plate appearances.

  • Diego Castillo SS | MIN

Twins' Diego A. Castillo: Loses roster spot

The Twins designated Castillo for assignment Wednesday.

He'll give up his spot on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster to right-hander Brock Stewart (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list prior to Wednesday's game against the Phillies. After getting a call-up from Triple-A St. Paul on July 14, Castillo appeared in just four games while going 2-for-6 with a double, two walks, three runs and two RBI.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Goes deep in loss

Pena went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and a stolen base in Tuesday's loss to the Athletics.

Pena was the only Astros player with multiple extra-base hits in Tuesday's defeat. He doubled in the seventh and then added a solo home run in the ninth with the game well out of reach. The 26-year-old is riding a six-game hit streak during which he has recorded multiple hits three times. Pena also has homered in two of his past three games and has driven in a run in three of his last four. He's now slashing .282/.324/.403 with nine homers, 44 RBI, 49 runs, 12 steals and an 18:67 BB:K in 412 plate appearances.

  • Romy Gonzalez SS | BOS

Red Sox's Romy Gonzalez: Notches sixth steal

Gonzalez went 2-for-5 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 6-0 win over the Rockies.

Gonzalez has hit safely in four of five games since the All-Star break, and this was his second multi-hit effort in a row. The infielder also picked up his sixth steal on his eighth attempt of the year. He's at a .273/.323/.398 slash line with one home run, 10 RBI, eight runs scored, six doubles and a triple over 96 plate appearances. He's enjoyed a boost of playing time with the Red Sox facing four consecutive left-handed starters, but Gonzalez figures to cede his spot at first base to Dominic Smith against right-hander Cal Quantrill in Wednesday's series finale.

  • Leonardo Rivas SS | SEA

Mariners' Leo Rivas: Recalled from Triple-A

The Mariners recalled Rivas from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

With J.P. Crawford (hand) headed for the injured list, Rivas will rejoin the big-league squad in order to replenish the Mariners' infield depth. The 26-year-old has gone 2-for-6 during his previous stints in the majors this season and has slashed .296/.441/.424 through 266 plate appearances in the minors.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Placed on injured list

The Mariners placed Crawford on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a right hand fracture, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Crawford suffered a hairline fracture of his right pinky finger during Monday's contest and has now officially landed on the injured list, though the expected duration of his stay on the IL remains unknown. While he's out, Dylan Moore figures to take over as Seattle's primary shortstop, and Leo Rivas will come up from Triple-A Tacoma to provide depth to the Mariners' infield group.

  • David Hamilton SS | BOS

Red Sox's David Hamilton: Resting against southpaw

Hamilton isn't in the Red Sox's lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

With left-handed starter Ty Blach on the mound for Colorado, the lefty-hitting Hamilton will step out of the lineup Tuesday. Jamie Westbrook will pick up another start at second base as a result, batting ninth.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Receiving Tuesday off

Seager is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox.

Seager started the previous 15 games but will sit Tuesday after going 1-for-16 over the past five contests. Jonathan Ornelas will receive a start at shortstop versus White Sox lefty Garrett Crochet.
