Yamamoto improved to 4-1 in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Marlins, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out five over eight innings. Yamamoto gave up a first-pitch home run to Jazz Chisholm to open up the game and his only other blemish on the night came from another solo home run by Bryan De La Cruz in the sixth. He was incredibly efficient, needing 97 pitches to navigate through eight innings. It was his first time pitching past six innings as a major leaguer and he's now won four straight decisions since suffering a loss in his debut on March 21 versus the Padres in the Seoul Series. Removing the shaky outing in Korea, Yamamoto owns a 1.76 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 45:7 K:BB in 41 innings this season. He'll look to keep rolling next week in a projected road matchup against the Giants.... See More ... See Less

Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Another six shutout innings
Yamamoto (3-1) earned the win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, allowing five hits and two walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out five. Yamamoto allowed the leadoff man to reach in back-to-back innings to open the contest but still managed to keep Arizona's lineup at bay over six frames. The right-hander has now hurled 12 scoreless innings over his last two starts and has won each of his last three decisions after imploding in his MLB debut. He's also logged three straight quality starts.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Dominant after first inning
Yamamoto (1-1) pitched five scoreless innings in a win against the Cubs on Saturday, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out eight. Yamamoto got into trouble right off the bat, surrendering two hits and a walk to the first three batters he faced. However, the right-hander then proceeded to strike out the side to work his way out of the hole before allowing just one more hit in the contest. Yamamoto has now hurled 10 scoreless innings over his last two starts after getting knocked around in his first outing. He's given up just five hits over that stretch to go along with a 13:2 K:BB.... Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Struggles in MLB debut
Yamamoto (0-1) took the loss to the Padres on Thursday in the second game of the Seoul Series. He allowed five runs on four hits and a walk while striking out two over one inning. The right-hander also hit a batter and uncorked a wild pitch in a forgettable big-league debut. He threw 43 pitches and only 23 of them found the strike zone. Signed in the offseason to the longest and most lucrative contract for a pitcher in MLB history, Yamamoto will face immense pressure to perform right away in his first season stateside. There will be better days ahead, but Thursday offered a harsh reminder that he's facing a different level of competition and the transition to Major League Baseball is often difficult.... Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Starting second game in Korea
Yamamoto is scheduled to start the Dodgers' second game of the regular season March 21 versus the Padres in Seoul, South Korea. Manager Dave Roberts had previously announced earlier in spring training that Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow would both pick up starts during the two-game set in Seoul to open the season, but the Dodgers didn't disclose until Monday which order the two pitchers would take the bump. Glasnow will end up drawing the Opening Day assignment, while Yamamoto will take the hill for Game 2 in his MLB debut, matching up against Padres right-hander Joe Musgrove. After claiming Pacific League MVP awards in each of his final three seasons in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball before inking a lucrative long-term deal with the Dodgers this winter, Yamamoto has gotten off to a shaky start in spring training, as he's allowed five earned runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out seven in five innings. However, given Yamamoto's track record of elite production in Japan in addition to an impressive arsenal that includes a mid-90s fastball and two plus pitchers -- a high-to-low-90s splitter and an upper-70s curveball -- it shouldn't take long for him to find success in the big leagues.... Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Shaky in second spring start
Yamamoto was tagged for five runs on six hits and three walks over three innings Wednesday in Cactus League action versus the White Sox. Yamamoto did notch four strikeouts, but on the whole it was a significant step back from his superb first spring start. Worth noting is that the Dodgers' infield defense behind the righty was pretty shaky, and if there's a weakness on the team that might be it, particularly the left side. Yamamoto is expected to start one of the Dodgers' games in their March 20-21 series in South Korea against the Padres, but he should have a couple more tune-ups before then.... See More ... Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Impressive in spring debut
Yamamoto tossed two scoreless innings in a Cactus League contest against Texas on Wednesday, allowing one hit and no walks while striking out three. Yamamoto's first game action in a Dodgers uniform began with a strikeout of Marcus Semien, and the only hit he allowed -- a first-inning single by Evan Carter -- was wiped out by a double play on the following pitch. The right-handed hurler's success in Japan was tied to his ability to strike batters out while limiting homers and walks, and that skill set was evident Wednesday, as Yamamoto punched out half of the six batters he faced while throwing 16 of 19 pitches for strikes. There's already plenty of hype around Yamamoto due to his dominance overseas and the lucrative 12-year deal he received from Los Angeles in December, and his Cactus League debut should provide more fodder for expectations that are already sky high....
