The Tigers optioned Flores to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. Flores was added to the 40-man roster over the winter but was always destined to begin the season back in the minors. His stint at Toledo to begin 2024 will be his first at the team's Triple-A affiliate.... See More ... See Less

Tigers' Wilmer Flores: Shows increased velocity
Flores, who averaged 92.9 mph on his fastball last season, touched 99 mph in Grapefruit League play Thursday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. Flores got a swinging strikeout on the pitch, and a sustained increase in velocity would be good news for the young righty. He was selected to the 40-man roster in November, and while he'll likely start the year with Triple-A Toledo, Flores could be a bullpen option at some point in 2024 if he's able to pitch well in the minors.... Tigers' Wilmer Flores: Selected to 40-man
The Tigers selected Flores to their 40-man roster Tuesday. Flores is now protected from selection in next month's Rule 5 Draft, though he's likely still far away from making his major-league debut. The 22-year-old right-hander posted a 4.65 ERA and 90:33 K:BB in 89 innings (21 starts) this past season between High-A West Michigan and Double-A Erie.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Wilmer Flores: Back from IL
Flores (hamstring) allowed two runs on six hits while striking out seven over 5.0 innings in his last start Saturday against Double-A Richmond. Flores spent time on the 7-day IL while recovering from a hamstring injury, but he's been cleared to return to action. He owns a 4.65 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with a 90:32 K:BB across 89 innings in the minors so far this season.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Wilmer Flores: Kicks off rehab assignment
Flores (hamstring) began a rehab assignment with High-A West Michigan on Tuesday, striking out one over two scoreless innings while giving up two hits and no walks. Flores' appearance for West Michigan was his first at any level since July 20 after he had been sidelined with a right hamstring strain. He remains on Double-A Erie's 7-day injured list but should be activated at some point in early September.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Wilmer Flores: Lands on MiLB IL
Flores was placed on the 7-day injured list due to an undisclosed injury Monday, Emily Waldon of Baseball America reports. The move is retroactive to July 22, so he'll be eligible for activation beginning Saturday. Flores owns a 4.04 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 75 strikeouts over 75.2 frames so far this season with Double-A Erie.... See More ... See Less
