Miller received a hydrodissection procedure on the ulnar nerve in his right elbow earlier this week, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. The procedure was to help with inflammation surrounding the nerve in Miller's elbow. He started the season strong with five scoreless outings, but he has taken the loss in two of his last four appearances, giving up five runs on four hits and three walks while striking out two across three innings over that span. Miller was placed on the 15-day IL on Monday, and he is eligible to return in late May.... See More ... See Less

Tigers' Shelby Miller: Placed on 15-day IL
The Tigers placed Miller on the 15-day injured list Monday with right ulnar nerve inflammation. It's unclear how long the elbow issue might have been bothering Miller, but it could help explain his struggles lately -- he's allowing five earned runs over his last three innings. Miller will be eligible to return from the IL later this month.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Shelby Miller: Takes first loss Wednesday
Miller (3-1) allowed a run on two hits across an inning of relief to take the loss Wednesday against the Rangers. After starting the season with seven scoreless innings, Miller has now allowed runs in both of his last two appearances, suffering a blown save and a loss in the process. The righty still has a 1.93 ERA, and despite the hiccup, he should remain one of the top bullpen options for the Tigers moving forward.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Shelby Miller: Continues strong start
Miller (2-0) pitched two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Mets. He walked two and struck out four. Miller has been great so far, as he's now logged six scoreless innings and six strikeouts across four appearances. While Jason Foley appears to have taken hold of the closer role for now, Miller could push his way into the role if he continues to pitch this well. The veteran righty only has one MLB save, however, which came last season with the Dodgers, so he doesn't have a ton of experience closing out games. Miller will be locked in as an excellent setup option who could see some save opportunities here and there in a fluid Detroit bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Shelby Miller: Earns first 2024 win
Miller (1-0) tossed two scoreless innings to earn the win in relief during Saturday's 7-6, 10-inning victory over the White Sox. He struck out one. Detroit starter Kenta Maeda was tagged for six runs over 3.1 innings, but the Detroit bullpen was lights out the rest of the way, punctuated by Miller at the end. The righty has now tossed three scoreless innings across the team's first two games, so he may be unavailable Sunday. However, Miller looks like he'll be a heavily used and valuable reliver for the Tigers moving forward.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Shelby Miller: Turns sights to Opening Day
Miller recorded a 2.70 ERA and 10 strikeouts across 6.2 innings this spring and is set for an Opening Day bullpen role in Detroit. Miller didn't see a ton of work this spring, though he was effective. The veteran righty joined the Tigers on a one-year, $3 million contract in December, and he should slot into a fairly high-leverage role. While Alex Lange is set to close games for now, he struggled with command in 2023, meaning that Miller could emerge as an option for saves at some point if he pitches well. At the very least, he should be a decent source of holds and solid ratios.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Shelby Miller: Reaches deal with Detroit
Miller signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Tigers on Friday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. The deal also includes a $4.25 million club option (or $250,000 buyout) for 2025. Miller had a sneaky-good season for the Dodgers in 2023 in relief, collecting a 1.71 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 42:19 K:BB over 42 innings. He should be used in high-leverage spots out of Detroit's bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Shelby Miller: Working as opener Sunday
Miller will start Sunday's game against the Mariners, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. Miller will make his first start since 2019 as he serves as an opener for the series finale in Seattle. The veteran right-hander has a 2.00 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 36:18 K:BB across 36 frames this season and should cover an inning or two Sunday. Ryan Yarbrough and Gavin Stone are poised to follow Miller as Los Angeles' bulk pitchers, per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Shelby Miller: Activated from 60-day IL
The Dodgers activated Miller (neck) from the 60-day injured list Thursday. Finally recovered from the neck injury that has kept him out since June, Miller will return to the Los Angeles bullpen ahead of Thursday's series opener against Atlanta. He had posted an impressive 2.40 ERA with 31 strikeouts in 30 innings of relief for the Dodgers prior to the lengthy IL stint.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Shelby Miller: Could return during homestand
Miller (neck) is expected to be activated from the 60-day injured list during the team's current homestand, which runs until Sept. 3, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports. Miller has been on the injured list since June 21 due to neck pain, but skipper Dave Roberts stated Monday that the veteran is close to a return. Once activated, he'll rejoin the Dodgers' bullpen, where he found success earlier in the year. Miller owns a 2.40 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with a 31:18 K:BB across 30 innings so far this season.... Dodgers' Shelby Miller: Moves rehab to Triple-A
Miller (neck) had his minor-league rehab assignment shifted to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, per OKC's broadcaster and communications director Alex Freedman. Miller began a rehab stint Aug. 5 and made three appearances for the Dodgers' Arizona Complex League club, allowing two unearned runs and posting an 8:2 K:BB over 2.2 innings. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Miller will likely need 2-to-3 outings with OKC, including pitching on back-to-back days, before he's ready to be activated off the 60-day IL, per Eric Stephen of SBNation.com. Once that happens, Miller should regain a prominent role in the big-league club's bullpen, where's he pitched to a 2.40 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 31:18 K:BB over 30 innings on the campaign.... See More ... Dodgers' Shelby Miller: Resumes pitching
Miller (neck) threw a scoreless inning in the Arizona Complex League on Saturday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. Saturday's appearance was Miller's first since being placed on the injured list in June, and he was sharp in his first game back, serving up a single but striking out three batters. Miller is on the 60-day injured list, so he will not rejoin the big club until at least Aug. 20.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Shelby Miller: Moved to 60-day IL
Miller (neck) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. This move enables the Dodgers to add Jake Marisnick to the 40-man roster. Miller is out indefinitely with an unspecified neck issue and wasn't close to rejoining the bullpen, so this likely doesn't affect his timeline for a return.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Shelby Miller: Not close to return
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Miller (neck) is "still a ways away" from returning, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports. Miller was placed on the injured list June 21 due to lingering neck discomfort and Roberts told reporters that the 32-year-old right-hander is "not in a good spot" with his recovery even after a two-week shutdown period. It sounds like he could remain sidelined through all of July.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Shelby Miller: Facing extended absence
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Miller (neck) will be out for a minimum of 3-to-4 weeks, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports. Miller has dealt with neck problems previously during his career, and his current injury appears to be the most recent instance of a long-standing issue. The 32-year-old righty has been solid this season with a 2.40 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through 30 innings, but his next appearance will have to wait until after the All-Star break.... See More ... Dodgers' Shelby Miller: Placed on 15-day IL
The Dodgers placed Miller on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with neck pain. Miller hadn't made an appearance since last Thursday and will now get a couple weeks off for rest and treatment. The 32-year-old right-hander has proven to be a nice find for Los Angeles this season, boasting a 2.40 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 31 strikeouts through 30 innings of relief. He'll be eligible to return in early July.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Shelby Miller: Activated from bereavement list
Miller was activated from the bereavement list Wednesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. Adam Kolarek was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Miller has posted a 2.57 ERA and 29:17 K:BB in 28 relief innings for the Dodgers this season.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Shelby Miller: Expected to return Wednesday
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Tuesday that Miller (personal) is expected back from bereavement leave before Wednesday's game against the White Sox. Miller has been away from the team since Saturday while dealing with more important matters. The right-hander will be a mid-to-late inning option for the Dodgers upon his return.... See More ... Dodgers' Shelby Miller: Placed on bereavement list
Miller was placed on the bereavement list Saturday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Players may spend between three and seven days on the bereavement list, placing Miller's expected return date somewhere between Tuesday and next Saturday. Andre Jackson was called up to take his place in the bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Shelby Miller: Makes Opening Day roster
Miller will be part of the Dodgers' bullpen to begin the regular season, per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register. Miller signed with the Dodgers on a minor-league contract last November. He was far from a lock to make the team after pitching in just four games last season and posting an ugly 8.92 ERA over 79.2 innings since 2018. However, the veteran showed some positives this spring, registering an 11:0 K:BB over seven frames (though he also gave up five earned runs). The Dodgers have a history of success with pitching reclamation projects, and Miller could be the next in line if he's able to carry over his spring success to the regular season.... See More ...
