Benson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.
With left-hander Ranger Suarez on the mound for the Phillies, Reds manager David Bell will give the lefty-hitting Benson a day off and stock up on some extra right-handed bats. Bubba Thompson will pick up a start in the outfield in Benson's stead.
