Pac-12 scoreboard for Dec. 29

Colorado 80, Hartford 52: The Buffaloes (10-2) got strong play from their starting five and that was more than enough against the overmatched Hawks (7-6). Colorado's starters shot a combined 25 for 38 from the field as four starters scored in double figures. Forward Josh Scott led with 21 points and 10 rebounds, and Andre Roberson had 14 points and 14 rebounds. Askia Booker added 19 points and was the lone Buffalo deep-threat, making 3 of 5 3-pointers while the rest of the team was 1 of 11. Evan Cooper had 14 points for Hartford.

Arizona State 68, Coppin State 52: The Sun Devils (11-2) got most of their production from a starting group that scored all but 10 of their points. Jahii Carson led four in double figures with 15 points and added eight rebounds and seven assists. Jonathan Gilling had 14 points and seven rebounds, and Carrick Felix and Evan Gordon added 11. Coppin State falls to 3-11. 

Towson 67, Oregon State 66, OT: The Beavers thought they were cruising to their 10th win, up 13 points at the half and firmly in control of momentum. But Towson (5-8) outscored Oregon State 37-24 in the second half then squeaked out the overtime win with just seven points in the extra period. The Beavers (9-3) missed their first four shots in overtime but hung around until Marcus Damas scored with one second left. Eric Moreland had 16 points and 18 rebounds to lead Oregon State, but Towson's Jerrelle Benimon countered with 20 points and 21 rebounds while playing all 45 minutes.

Washington State 74, Idaho State 39: This game was close early, but the Cougars (9-4) blew it open midway through the first half with a 20-0 run against Idaho State (1-10). F Brock Motum and G Mike Ladd combined to score 12 of WSU's 20 points during the run. Motum and Ladd were also Washington State's leading scorers with 17 points apiece. Ladd added nine rebounds, and Motum had seven. 

Connecticut 61, Washington 53: Connecticut (10-2) broke open the game early in the second half with a 7-0 run that turned a 31-26 UConn lead into a 38-26 advantage. Washington (8-5) missed its first seven shots of the half, allowing UConn to take the 12-point lead. UW cut the deficit to four points, but that was as close as they got. G Scott Suggs scored a game-high 15 points, but no other UW player reached double-digits. Washington shot 29.7 percent (19 of 64), including 4 of 17 (23.5 percent) from 3-point range. Omar Calhoun led Connecticut with 17 points. 

Harvard 67, Cal 62: Harvard outscored the Golden Bears 9-4 over the game's final 3:13. With the game tied at 58, Harvard's Laurent Rivard hit a 3-pointer that gave the Crimson the lead for good. Cal continued to get solid production from Gs Allen Crabbe and Justin Cobbs, but they didn't get much from anybody else. Cobbs and Crabbe combined to score 42 of Cal's 62 points. Crabbe had a game-high 27. The only other Bear to score more than six points was F David Kravish, who scored a season-high 12. Rivard led Harvard with 19 points.

Stanford 65, Lafayette 59: Stanford trailed 45-43 midway through the second half, but outscored the Leopards 22-14 down the stretch to avoid the upset. G Chasson Randle led the Cardinal with 16 points. F Josh Huestis tied a career-high with 14 rebounds, and Dwight Powell added 11 to outrebound Lafayette, which had 24. Stanford freshman Rosco Allen made his biggest splash of the season, scoring 11 points. Allen had just 12 total points in Stanford's previous three games. Lafayette's Joey Ptasinski led all scorers with 17 points. 

Star of the day: Carson, ASU. The talented freshman has been filling up the stat sheet with points and assists. But he had yet to make an impact on the boards. Carson's eight rebounds -- to go with 15 points and seven assists -- were a season high and matched his total from the previous four games combined.

Inside the box score -- 3 numbers worth a second look

13 -- Holding Coppin State to 33 percent shooting is impressive, but Arizona State's 39-26 advantage in rebounding was the biggest reason it fended off the Eagles.

25 percent -- Oregon State shot itself in the foot against Towson in the second half and overtime. It was just about the only shot it made during that period. The Beavers made nine of their last 36 shots (25 percent).

29.7 percent -- Washington only has itself to blame for its 8-point loss to Connecticut. The Huskies shot 29.7 percent (19 of 64) from the field, 23.5 percent (4 of 17) from the 3-point line and 68.8 percent (11 of 16) from the free throw line.
