Bruins' Mason Lohrei: Picks up two helpers Wednesday
Lohrei notched two assists with four blocked shots and a plus-1 rating in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Chicago.
The 2020 second-round pick is emerging as a productive option on the Boston blue line. Lohrei has collected seven assists over the last 11 games -- three of them on the power play -- and he's added 15 blocked shots during that stretch. His minus-9 rating on the season leaves a lot to be desired, but with the Bruins turning things around defensively under interim head coach Joe Sacco, Lohrei's performance in that category should improve.

Lohrei had been held off the scoresheet over his last nine games before helping out on a Charlie Coyle tally in the first period. The 23-year-old Lohrei has a chance to carve out a larger role in the absence of Hampus Lindholm (lower body), who is expected to be out multiple weeks. In addition to top-four minutes at even strength, Lohrei also appears to have the first chance to replace Lindholm on the second power-play unit. Lohrei had the primary helper on a Jake DeBrusk goal in the third period that cut Florida's lead to two. The 23-year-old Lohrei also added one shot, one hit and one block in 20:13 of ice time. The young blueliner is making a name for himself this postseason -- Lohrei is up to one goal and three assists in eight games to go along with a plus-2 rating. Lohrei's next chance to help Boston's offensive production will come Sunday in Game 4.

Lohrei was recalled from AHL Providence on Tuesday, per Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe.
Lohrei has played 41 games with the big club this season, registering four goals and nine assists to go along with 43 shots on goal. The 23-year-old could play in Game 3 versus Toronto on Wednesday as Andrew Peeke (finger) and Derek Forbort (undisclosed) are both dealing with injuries.
