Top David Kampf News

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Lone goal in loss

Kampf scored a goal on two shots in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Bruins in Game 1.

Kampf had the Maple Leafs' lone tally in the third, but it was too late to turn things around for the team. The 29-year-old forward had 19 points in 78 regular-season appearances, his least productive of three campaigns since he joined Toronto. He'll likely remain on the fourth line for now, though he could lose his place in the lineup once Bobby McMann (lower body) or William Nylander (undisclosed) are able to play.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Set to play

Kampf (illness) is expected to be back in the lineup Wednesday versus the Sabres, NHL.com's Dave McCarthy reports.

Kampf missed practice Tuesday while sick, but he's recovered enough to get in the lineup. The 29-year-old is expected to center the fourth line as usual, so he won't be a particularly intriguing option for fantasy managers.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Game-time call Wednesday

Kampf (illness) will be a game-time decision against the Sabres on Wednesday, Joshua Kloke of The Athletic reports.

Kampf has scored just once in his last 31 contests while adding a mere four helpers and 29 shots over that stretch. As such, few fantasy players will likely be impacted by his availability versus Buffalo. If he does miss out, Noah Gregor figures to play for the first time since Feb. 21 against Arizona.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Absent from practice

Kampf (illness) wasn't spotted at practice Tuesday, per Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun.

With Kampf unable to practice Tuesday, he should be considered questionable for Wednesday's game against Buffalo. The 29-year-old has recorded just five goals and six assists through 57 games on the year, but he's been a solid defensive-minded forward for the Maple Leafs.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Finds twine in win

Kampf scored a goal on four shots and went plus-2 in Thursday's 7-3 win over the Golden Knights.

Kampf had one of the Maple Leafs' four goals in the first period, which was enough to get them the win. The 29-year-old hadn't scored since he had three goals over four games from Dec. 7-12. The center is at five tallies, 10 points, 56 shots on net, 55 hits and a minus-4 rating over 52 appearances this season, playing mainly in a bottom-six role.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Returns from injury

Kampf recorded an assist in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Blues.

After missing the last three games with an undisclosed injury, Kampf returned to his regular spot at center on the third line. The Maple Leafs were rewarded as he and Bobby McMann had instant chemistry as the latter scored a hat trick on the night. Kampf finished with an assist on the empty-net goal and a plus-3 rating in 15:52 TOI.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Back at it

Kampf (undislosed) has been activated off injured reserve and will return to the lineup Tuesday against St. Louis, Mark Masters of TSN reports.

Kampf is expected to return to a fourth-line role following his three-game absence. He's picked up eight points while averaging 13:06 of ice time through 46 contests this season.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Should return Tuesday

Kampf (undisclosed) is expected to return to action Tuesday versus St. Louis, David Alter of The Hockey News reports.

Kampf is still on injured reserve, but he should be activated prior to puck drop versus the Blues as long as he makes it through the morning skate without issue. The 29-year-old has picked up eight points through 46 contests in a bottom-six role this season.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Lands on IR

Kampf (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Friday, per CapFriendly.

Kampf was already ruled out through at least Saturday's game in Ottawa, which will be his third straight missed game. The 29-year-old will be eligible to return from injured reserve once he's healthy. He has eight points in 46 games this season.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Set to miss next three games

Kampf (undisclosed) is expected to miss Toronto's next three games, per David Alter of The Hockey News, starting with Monday's matchup against the Islanders.

Kampf will be considered day-to-day ahead of next Tuesday's contest against St. Louis. He has chipped in four goals, eight points, 47 shots on net and 40 hits over 46 outings this campaign.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Won't play Monday

Kampf (undisclosed) won't play Monday against the Islanders, according to David Alter of The Hockey News.

Kampf didn't practice Sunday after suffering an undisclosed injury against Winnipeg on Jan. 27. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Sunday to determine a timetable for his return. Kampf has chipped in four goals, eight points, 47 shots on net and 40 hits over 46 outings this campaign.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Ice time dropping again

Kampf's ice time dropped to 10:02 on Wednesday in a 4-2 loss to Ottawa.

Kampf's yo-yo season continues. His ice time has gone up and down this season, and his efforts in a bottom-six capacity have also varied. After an early December uptick in play and output, Kampf has gone six games with little to show. He has a minus-2 rating in that span with just four shots and three hits. On Wednesday, he lost time late as the Leafs tried to come back against the Senators. His inconsistent efforts have destabilized the Leafs' bottom six and that has put extra pressure on the top of the lineup.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Second goal in as many games

Kampf scored a goal Saturday in a 4-0 win over the Predators.

He scored the game-winner at 14:15 of the second period. Kampf took a lead pass from Conor Timmins before fighting off Predators defender Ryan McDonagh, and wiring the puck over Kevin Lankinen's glove from the slot. Kampf and Noah Gregor have been playing excellent hockey on the Leafs' bottom line. So much so that Kampf has a goal in each of his last two games (eight shots). His fantasy value is limited, but he might help short term if you're in a super deep league.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Ice time dropping

Kampf played under 10 minutes Monday against Chicago.

It was nine minutes and change (9:19), which is odd for a guy who never played under 10 minutes a game in 82 appearances last season. Kampf also led all Maple Leafs' forwards in five-on-five defensive zone draws in 2022-23, but so far he's seen the fewest, which is odd for a defensive specialist. Kampf will likely never be a great fantasy option, but his play will positively impact the fantasy value of others. Toronto will work to settle its bottom six on the team's upcoming five-game road trip.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Staying with Leafs

Kampf agreed to a four-year, $9.6 million contract with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday, Chris Johnston of TSN reports.

Kampf had seven goals, 27 points, 107 shots, 74 hits and 29 blocks in 82 contests with Toronto in 2022-23. He's a solid bottom-six option, but at the age of 28, he shouldn't be expected to grow beyond that role. Kampf is coming off a two-year, $3 million contract and would have become an unrestricted free agent Saturday had he not re-signed with the Maple leafs.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Picks up helper

Kampf recorded an assist in Tuesday's 4-2 victory over the Blue Jackets.

Kampf recorded a point for the first time since March 23 versus the Panthers, a stretch of five games without a point. The Czech center remains stuck in a 16-game goal drought dating back to March 1 against Edmonton and put just 19 shots on net over that stretch. As such, fantasy players shouldn't be expecting much out of Kampf in the offensive end moving forward.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Garners assist

Kampf supplied an assist in Friday's 3-0 win over the Blue Jackets.

Kampf isn't a popular fantasy option, but he's holding his own as a penalty-killing specialist on the third line. The 28-year-old has generated four goals and 13 assists -- including a pair of shorthanded apples -- through 53 games. Kampf will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Picks up assist in victory

Kampf earned an assist in Sunday's 5-1 drubbing of Washington.

With his helper, Kampf brought a 12-game pointless streak to a close, though he remains goalless in 23 consecutive contests. Despite his recent slump, the 28-year-old winger should still be capable of reaching the 20-point threshold for the second straight season after registering a career-high 26 points last year.

  • Maple Leafs' David Kampf: First goal in 20 games

Kampf scored a goal Thursday in a 5-0 win over the Kings.

He picked up the second goal in a second-period, three-goal flurry that spanned just 66 seconds. It was Kampf's first goal in 20 games, but he has quietly put up points in three of his last four contests. His 11 points in 28 games are a career-pace for Kampf, but it's not enough production for fantasy managers.
