Bortuzzo (lower body) was activated from long-term injured reserve Friday, per CapFriendly. Bortuzzo could be an option for Saturday's contest against Ottawa following a 28-game absence. The 34-year-old blueliner has been credited with five shots on goal, 20 blocked shots, 21 hits and 19 PIM over 15 appearances between the Blues and Islanders this season.... See More ... See Less

Islanders' Robert Bortuzzo: Moves to LTIR
Bortuzzo (lower body) was moved to long-term injured reserve Saturday, per CapFriendly. The Islanders also put Casey Cizikas (lower body) on LTIR and removed Ryan Pulock (lower body) from LTIR on Saturday. Bortuzzo, who hasn't played since Jan. 2, is eligible to be activated whenever he is ready to return. He has picked up four shots on goal, 17 blocked shots, 12 hits and 12 PIM in 11 games with the Islanders since being acquired from Minnesota in December.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robert Bortuzzo: On injured reserve
Bortuzzo (lower body) was put on injured reserve Wednesday. Bortuzzo's placement is presumably retroactive to Tuesday, which would mean he'll be eligible to be activated in time for next Thursday's outing versus Toronto. He has no points, 19 PIM, 16 hits and 20 blocks in 15 contests this season. Sebastian Aho will likely play regularly during Bortuzzo's absence.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robert Bortuzzo: Leaves Tuesday's contest
Bortuzzo left Tuesday's game versus the Avalanche with a lower-body injury, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. Bortuzzo was hit by Samuel Girard in the second period and had trouble getting off the ice, favoring his right leg. Head coach Lane Lambert had no update on Bortuzzo after the contest. With Ryan Pulock (upper body) nearing a return, he may take Bortuzzo's place in the lineup against Arizona on Thursday.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robert Bortuzzo: Acquired by Islanders
Bortuzzo was acquired by the Islanders from St. Louis on Friday in exchange for a seventh-round pick. Bortuzzo has no points, seven PIM, four hits and three blocks in four contests with the Blues in 2023-24. He was serving primarily as the team's seventh defenseman and was frequently a healthy scratch. The Islanders put Ryan Pulock (lower body) on injured reserve Friday, so perhaps Bortuzzo will get regular playing time with New York during Pulock's absence.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Robert Bortuzzo: Skates at first practice
Bortuzzo (upper body) skated at Thursday's first training camp practice, Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic reports. Bortuzzo missed nine of the last 10 games of 2022-23, but it appears he's ready to go for this season. The 34-year-old blueliner figures to handle a third-pairing role on the occasions he's in the lineup -- he could also be a frequent healthy scratch.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Robert Bortuzzo: Not expected to return this season
Bortuzzo (upper body) is considered doubtful for St. Louis' last two games of the season, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports. The Blues aren't going to make the playoffs, so Bortuzzo has almost certainly seen his last action in 2022-23. In the likely event that ends up being the case, he'll finish the campaign having picked up five points while averaging just 12:34 of ice time through 43 games.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Robert Bortuzzo: Not playing Saturday
Bortuzzo (upper body/personal) will miss Saturday's game in Minnesota, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports. Bortuzzo will return to the Blues on Sunday after attending a family matter in Toronto. Bortuzzo has missed the last five games with an upper-body injury. Bortuzzo has two goals and five points in 43 games this season and hopes to play in the Blues' final two games of the season.... Blues' Robert Bortuzzo: Remains sidelined
Bortuzzo (upper body) will miss a fifth straight contest Thursday versus the Rangers, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports. The Blues aren't going to make the playoffs and they only have three regular-season games remaining following Thursday's contest, so Bortuzzo could be in danger of missing the rest of the campaign. If that ends up being the case, he'll finish 2022-23 having picked up five points through 43 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Robert Bortuzzo: Not playing Tuesday
Bortuzzo (upper body) won't play Tuesday against Philadelphia, Jim Thomas of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Bortuzzo has provided five points, 49 blocked shots and 64 hits in 43 appearances this season. Marco Scandella (lower body) will miss the rest of the 2022-23 campaign, so the Blues will have Calle Rosen and Matt Kessel in the lineup for Tuesday's contest.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Robert Bortuzzo: Out Sunday
Bortuzzo (upper body) won't play Sunday against the Bruins, per Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic. Bortuzzo will miss a third straight game as he works his way back from an upper-body injury. Rookie Matt Kessel will fill in for Bortuzzo and Marco Scandella (lower body) on the blue line. The 34-year-old Bortuzzo has five points (two goals, three assists) and a plus-9 rating in 43 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Robert Bortuzzo: Rare offensive outburst
Bortuzzo had two assists in a 4-3 win over Detroit on Thursday. The veteran defender is not known for his offense, but he has somehow put up three points (one goal, two assists) in his last two games, both against the Wings. Bortuzzo is a guy you cheer for while he's on the ice, but you don't count on him in the fantasy arena. He has just five points in 41 games. Too much risk.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Robert Bortuzzo: Scores goal in shootout loss
Bortuzzo scored a goal on one shot in the Blues' 3-2 shootout loss to the Red Wings on Tuesday. Bortuzzo opened the scoring Tuesday on a nice move in front of Magnus Hellberg. This goal snaps a five-game point drought for the defenseman and is his first goal since Dec. 31 versus Minnesota. On the season, Bortuzzo has two goals and three points in 40 games.... See More ... Blues' Robert Bortuzzo: Returns to lineup Saturday
Bortuzzo will return to the lineup Saturday, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports. Bortuzzo has been a healthy scratch the last four games and has played only once in the Blues' last 14 contests. He will replace Torey Krug, who is out of action with an undisclosed injury. Bortuzzo has one goal in 31 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Robert Bortuzzo: Activated off injured reserve
Bortuzzo (lower body) was taken off the injured reserve list Thursday. Bortuzzo hasn't played since Jan. 7 because of the injury. He has a goal, 49 hits and 29 blocks in 30 contests while averaging 12:01 of ice time this season. Although Bortuzzo's now available, he might serve as a healthy scratch Thursday versus Arizona, according to Jim Thomas of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Robert Bortuzzo: Could return during road trip
Bortuzzo (lower body) could be cleared to return at some point during St. Louis' upcoming three-game road trip, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports. Bortuzzo has picked up only one goal while averaging 12:01 of ice time through 30 games this season, so although his impending return will bolster the Blues' depth at defense, it shouldn't impact any fantasy lineups.... Blues' Robert Bortuzzo: Lands on IR
Bortuzzo (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Monday. Bortuzzo suffered an injury against Montreal on Saturday and will now miss at least two more games as a result. The team has yet to provide any more information on when the veteran blueliner is expected to return. Dmitri Samorukov was promoted to the NHL level Monday.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Robert Bortuzzo: Out Sunday
Bortuzzo (lower body) will not be available against the Wild on Sunday, Jim Thomas of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Bortuzzo was injured Saturday against Montreal and will now be forced to miss at least one game. Rookie blueliner Tyler Tucker has been recalled to suit up for Sunday's game. Bortuzzo's next chance to dress will be Tuesday against the Flames.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Robert Bortuzzo: Exits Saturday's game
Bortuzzo (lower body) won't return to Saturday's game versus the Canadiens. It's another injury for the Blues' defense corps, which is already missing Torey Krug (lower body) and Nick Leddy (upper body) among the regulars. If Bortuzzo is unable to play Sunday in Minnesota, Tyler Tucker would likely draw into the lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Robert Bortuzzo: Nets rare marker
Bortuzzo converted a goal during a 5-2 defeat to the visiting Wild on Saturday. Bortuzzo, who has yet to score more than four goals during his 12-year career, secured his first tally - and point - in 27 games this season. The 33-year-old defenseman has collected 19 goals in 517 career games. Bortuzzo, who added two shots, tied Saturday's match at 2-2 with a second-period wrist shot off a 3-on-2 breakaway.... Stan Fischler@StanFischler7H agoDepartment of Not-Really Coincidence: Last night, Portland Winterhawks grad, Seth Jarvis helped the @Canes beat the @NYIslanders. During the day, Hawks goalie Jan Spunar was named WHL Goalie of the Week. The 19-year-old Czech is undrafted! NHL needs net minders; Jan could be 1.

Hard to believe that it happened again but TD3GL did in the @NYIslanders again in the most painful (what else?) of ways in Raleigh last night. It's now Bounce Back Time at the new Corral.

Stan Fischler@StanFischler2D agoGood try for @NYIslanders in the opener in Raleigh. The @Canes proved their worth with exceptional goaltending and a pair of timely goals. Another effort like the one in Game One will give the Isles a shot at tying the series. My question: Does Patrick Roy start Varly or Ilya?

Stan Fischler@StanFischler3D agoSince The Hockey News Yearbook forecast a @Canes Stanley Cup triumph, I guess the @NYIslanders have quite a challenge ahead. Well, they had one in the homestretch and, heroically, met that challenge. That's hockey. Whatever happens, I wish them well.
