Bengals' Trenton Irwin: Facing additional competition
Irwin, who is nominally Tyler Boyd's backup at slot receiver, now faces competition from rookie wide receivers Charlie Jones and Andre Iosivas heading into training camp, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
Jones in particular looms as a threat as a slot receiver, and was essentially drafted to be Boyd's long-term replacement after this season. Irwin was a practice squad player at the beginning of the 2022 season, so his roster slot is hardly secure, even though he turned in 15 receptions for 231 yards and four touchdowns on 23 targets over just 272 snaps on offense in nine games.

Bengals' Trenton Irwin: Fails to build on two-TD game
Irwin played 12 of the Bengals' 64 snaps on offense and finished with one catch for 12 yards on two targets in Sunday's 27-16 win over the Ravens.
In his last outing Week 16 against the Patriots, Irwin registered three catches for 45 yards and two touchdowns, but his production predictably took a step back in the regular-season finale while Cincinnati had all of Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd available and at full health. Heading into this weekend's rematch with the Ravens in the wild-card round of the postseason, Irwin will likely maintain a limited role as the Bengals' No. 4 wideout.

Irwin played a season-high 46 offensive snaps after being elevated for the third game in a row ahead of Sunday's win over the Steelers. As a result, the practice-squad wideout logged career highs in receptions, yards and targets while serving as the team's No. 3 receiver behind Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins, who played 54 and 52 offensive snaps, respectively.
