  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Falls out of starting role

Atwell finished the 2023 regular season with 39 receptions for 483 yards and three touchdowns and five rushes for 31 yards. This season was supposed to be the next step up for the big-play threat, and in his first four games he looked like he was on that path as he put up an impressive 22-270-1 receiving line. Things went downhill from there, however, as Atwell put together just 11 catches for 197 yards and two touchdowns over his next seven games before losing his starting role to Demarcus Robinson. In the Rams' playoff loss to the Lions, Atwell burned past Kindle Vildor for a 38-yard touchdown but didn't get another touch the rest of the way, similar to the final six games of the regular season with just 40 snaps on offense before being used as a starter in the season finale with Puka Nacua, Cooper Kupp and Robinson all getting rest. Atwell has one year remaining on his rookie contract, but with Nacua and Kupp now entrenched as the top two targets for Matthew Stafford, it'll be difficult for the Louisville product to carve out a role beyond the third or fourth option at wide receiver.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Miserable day as starter

Atwell caught two of four targets for seven yards and rushed once for minus-4 yards during Sunday's 21-20 victory against San Francisco. He also recorded a two-point conversion. With Cooper Kupp (coach's decision) out and Puka Nacua and Demarcus Robinson's time on the field capped to keep them healthy for the playoffs, Atwell took the field for 64 of the Rams' 67 snaps on offense, his highest snap share since Week 8 against the Cowboys. Despite the increased role, Atwell managed only a pair of short gains on his two catches, and another pass attempt from quarterback Carson Wentz went straight through Atwell's hands and was intercepted by 49ers safety Tayler Hawkins. While a 39-483-3 receiving line over 16 games this season is an improvement over the Louisville product's rookie campaign, it still has to be considered a disappointment given the expectation of a much bigger role for Atwell. The rise of Robinson in recent weeks as a starter alongside Kupp and Nacua has relegated Atwell to a backup role entering the playoffs.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Cleared for Thursday

Atwell (concussion) doesn't have a designation for Thursday's game against the Saints. After Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Monday that Atwell cleared concussion protocol, the wide receiver then was listed as a full participant on all three of the Rams' Week 16 injury reports. Atwell thus will work behind starting wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua on Thursday, an arrangement that hasn't afforded the third-year pro many looks in the passing game when the latter two players are available. Kupp and Nacua have played in every game since Week 5, resulting in Atwell settling for a cumulative 15-206-2 line on 28 targets over his last nine contests.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Listed as full on practice estimate

Atwell (concussion) was a full participant at Tuesday's walkthrough, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. Atwell was listed the same way on Monday's practice estimate, but the Rams actually logged some on-field work one day later. There's an expectation from Sean McVay that Atwell will return from a one-game absence Thursday at New Orleans after making his way through the concussion protocol as of Monday, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. Nevertheless, Atwell has surpassed 30 receiving yards just twice over his last 10 appearances en route to a cumulative 20-230-2 line on 37 targets and two carries for eight yards during that stretch.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Expected to play Thursday

Coach Sean McVay said Monday that Atwell (concussion) is expected to play Thursday versus the Saints, Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Atwell has cleared the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. Atwell wasn't able to suit up for Sunday's win over the Commanders while working his way through the protocol for head injuries, but he's been cleared for Week 16. In his last four appearances, Atwell has failed to surpass three targets, so he'll likely work in a depth role behind Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua on Thursday.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Inactive as expected Sunday

Atwell (concussion) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Commanders, Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports. Early Sunday reports indicated Atwell was trending toward not playing versus Washington, and his absence is now official. With the third-year pro apparently not having gained clearance from an independent neurologist, veteran Demarcus Robinson, who produced a 3-46-1 line on 10 targets in the Week 14 overtime loss to the Ravens, is slated to work as the No. 3 receiver for the Rams behind the starting duo of Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Unlikely to play

Atwell (concussion), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Commanders, is considered unlikely to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Atwell never upgraded to full practice participation this week and doesn't appear to have passed the final phase of the five-step concussion protocol -- gaining clearance from an independent neurologist -- so he looks on track to miss his first game of the season. Official word on Atwell's status will arrive when the Rams release their inactive list approximately 90 minutes before Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff. Assuming Atwell isn't available, Demarcus Robinson would likely serve as the Rams' No. 3 receiver behind Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Questionable for Week 15

Atwell (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Commanders, Greg Beacham of the Associated Press reports. As of Thursday, Atwell had managed just one limited practice this week due to the concussion that he suffered this past Sunday at Baltimore. Coach Sean McVay told Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic on Friday that Atwell is progressing through the protocol for head injuries, but his listing ahead of Week 15 action implies the wide receiver still requires clearance from an independent neurologist.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Gets back to limited Thursday

Atwell (concussion) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. After entering the protocol for head injuries earlier this week, Atwell followed up an absence from Wednesday's jog-through with some activity one day later, indicating that he's making progress with his concussion. Still, he may have too many phases to pass through in order to make himself available Sunday against the Commanders. The Rams' final Week 15 practice report Friday could include a ruling on Atwell's upcoming availability.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Not practicing to begin week

Atwell (concussion) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's estimated injury report. Atwell entered the concussion protocol in the wake of this past Sunday's loss at Baltimore, and his inability to take part in Wednesday's jog-through session may put him on the outside looking in to passing all five phases of the protocol in order to play Sunday against the Commanders. Nonetheless, he'll have two more chances this week to put himself on a potential path to active status for Week 15.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Manages just one catch

Atwell secured one of two targets for nine yards during Sunday's 36-19 victory against the Browns. For the second straight week, Atwell took the field for just over a third of the Rams' snaps on offense, the fourth most among the Rams' wideouts behind Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua and Demarcus Robinson. Atwell's nine receiving yards ties his lowest output of the season, and notably, Robinson had a big day with four catches for 55 yards and a touchdown, which may be more evidence that Atwell's role on offense truly is shrinking to more of a backup role alongside Ben Skowronek and Austin Trammell. A stingy Ravens pass defense lies next in Week 14, which will make a rebound performance for Atwell a tall order.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Week 12 Waiver Priority List

If Cooper Kupp (ankle) is out for the Rams then Atwell might have sneaky upside in the majority of leagues. Keep in mind that Atwell scored at least 15.2 PPR points in three of four games without Kupp to start the season, and he had at least eight targets in all four outings that Kupp was out. We'll see if Kupp is out for Week 12 against the Cardinals, but Atwell would be a sleeper in all leagues if he's headed for a bigger role. He's worth adding for up to 5 percent of your FAB.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Down game in team victory

Atwell caught just one of his three targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 17-16 win over Seattle. Cooper Kupp (ankle) went down to injury in the first half and did not return to Sunday's contest. Puka Nacua dusted off his Kupp mask from earlier this year and went to work in the star's absence with a 5-70-1 line, but Atwell actually saw his targets decrease from the seven he received last week while Kupp was playing. The Rams will likely provide an update on the latter's status early in Week 12 after the medical staff examines his ankle. If Kupp is sidelined for next Sunday's matchup against Arizona, then Atwell will likely elevate into the starting lineup and receive a bump in value for as long as that scenario sticks.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Ties for team lead in targets

Atwell secured four of seven targets for 13 yards during Sunday's 20-3 loss to the Packers. The speedster saw as many targets in this contest as he had in his last three games combined, but with Brett Rypien under center instead of Matthew Stafford (thumb), Atwell posted his lowest yardage total since Week 5. The Rams have a bye week next on the docket in Week 10, which will give Stafford time to heal his sprained thumb. If Rypien is still starting for the Rams in Week 11 against the Seahawks, it'll be hard for fantasy managers to trust any Rams pass catcher, let alone Atwell, who hasn't produced more than 31 receiving yards in a game since all the way back in Week 3 against the Bengals.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Posts 29 total yards in defeat

Atwell secured two of four targets for 21 yards and rushed twice for eight yards during Sunday's 43-20 loss to the Cowboys. He also threw a two-point conversion. Atwell's biggest contribution in the passing game was a leaping 20-yard catch on third down late in the second quarter, which extended a drive that led to a Royce Freeman touchdown. The wideout later threw a pass to Matthew Stafford on a successful two-point conversion attempt early in the third quarter, which would prove to be Stafford's last action of the game. Backup Brett Rypien would target Atwell only once the rest of the contest, and the biggest contribution for the speedster from that point on was an eight-yard rush. Rypien doesn't have the arm to stretch the field like Stafford does, and any missed time for the veteran signal-caller would further depress Atwell's already downward trending stock.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Records TD on only catch

Atwell caught one of two targets for 31 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Steelers. The big touchdown catch by Atwell may or may not have been an errant pass directed to Cooper Kupp late in the first half, but the speedster happened to be in the right place at the right time and was able to walk into the end zone untouched after snagging the pass at the 1-yard line in front of a double-covered Kupp. For the third straight game, Puka Nacua and Kupp dominated Matthew Stafford's attention with a total of 19 targets to the rest of the team's 10, and perhaps more tellingly, Atwell's usage dipped to a season-low 71 percent of snaps on offense. With Atwell now looking like he's reverted to his usage patterns of 2022, he'll be hard to trust in lineups with a stout Cowboys pass defense up next in Week 8.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Makes only catch count

Atwell secured his only target for 30 yards during Sunday's 26-9 victory against the Cardinals. Atwell's only target of the contest came on a third-quarter pass from Matthew Stafford, and the speedy wideout managed to escape a tackle after the catch and extended the play for an additional 10-yard gain. The third-year receiver has shown a knack for making explosive plays when on the field, but Cooper Kupp's return has put a serious dent in Atwell's opportunities to produce; he's fallen from an average of nearly nine targets per game in Weeks 1-4 to just three in Weeks 5-6. Atwell will try to reverse the downward trajectory against the Steelers in Week 7.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Season-low 24 yards in win

Atwell secured five of nine targets for 24 yards during Sunday's 29-23 overtime victory against the Colts. Atwell's yardage totals have dropped every week since his explosive 6-119-0 performance in Week 1, a troubling trend with another target hog in Cooper Kupp (hamstring) likely to return soon. The third-year wideout still enjoyed a healthy target share, third on the team behind rookie breakout Puka Nacua and Tyler Higbee, and through four games, he's already matched his target total from 2022 with 35. The speedster will look to bounce back in Week 5 against an Eagles defense that has shown to be susceptible to the pass.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: Start Him (Lineup Decisions)

You'd prefer for Atwell to see more man coverage because he can speed past it for some splash plays, but as things stand the Colts are a favorable matchup for him and his 8.67 target-per-game average isn't anything to sneeze at. He's a No. 2 Fantasy WR worth using over D.J. Moore, Zay Flowers, DeAndre Hopkins and both Texans receivers.

  • Rams' Tutu Atwell: WRs to Start

Just start both Rams WRs against the Colts in Week 4. This could be the last game where Puka Nacua and Atwell are featured since Cooper Kupp (hamstring) is eligible to return in Week 5, and both have a great matchup at Indianapolis. There have already been six receivers to score at least 13.0 PPR points against the Colts this season, including two games where a pair of receivers -- Jacksonville with Calvin Ridley and Zay Jones in Week 1 and Houston with Nico Collins and Nathaniel Dell in Week 2 -- scored at least 16.5 PPR points. Nacua has scored at least 12.2 PPR points in each game, and Atwell has scored at least 15.2 PPR points in each outing.
