Titans' Ben Niemann: Headed to Tennessee
The Titans signed Niemann on Monday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.
Niemann will head to Tennessee after starting nine games for the Cardinals last year. The 27-year-old is coming off one of the most productive campaigns of his career, logging 70 tackles (38 solo), which was a new high for him. Heading into this season, Niemann may have the opportunity to compete with Monty Rice and fellow newcomer Azeez Al-Shaair for a regular role at inside linebacker.

Cardinals' Ben Niemann: Records 10 tackles Week 16
Niemann finished Sunday's Christmas Day loss to Tampa Bay with 10 tackles (six solo).
Niemann played on only 49 percent of Arizona's defensive stops, but he still managed to record a season-high 10 tackles. The fifth-year pro needs six tackles over the Cardinals' final two contests to match his career-high mark of 39 set last season with the Chiefs.

Cardinals' Ben Niemann: Inks deal with Chiefs
Niemann signed a contract with the Cardinals on Thursday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
Niemann tried out for Arizona during minicamp this past week as the team looks to add additional depth on defense and special teams. The 2018 undrafted free agent recorded 57 tackles, one pass defended and one interception over 17 games with five starts in Kansas City last season. Niemann also played at least 245 special-teams snaps during each of his first four seasons with the Chiefs and should serve as a solid depth linebacker alongside Nick Vigil and Tanner Vallejo.

Niemann (concussion) is no longer listed on the Chiefs' injury report Wednesday.
Niemann suffered a concussion in the Chiefs' win over the Eagles in Week 4 and he was forced to exit the game early. After clearing concussion protocols Monday, Niemann is expected to be available to play in Week 5 against the Bills.

Coach Andy Reid said Monday that Niemann has cleared concussion protocol, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports.
Niemann made two solo tackles during Sunday's victory, but he was unable to finish the game due to a concussion. He has made great progress and cleared protocols, but his status for Week 5 is still up in the air. Niemann has played a prominent role for Kansas City's defense with Willie Gay (toe) on injured reserve, so his absence against the Bills' high-powered offense would be a big loss.

Niemann walked off the practice field under his own power and was evaluated for a tweaked hamstring. The extent of the injury is unknown, but it is likely that the Chiefs won't rush him back during training camp, as he suffered a similar injury at the end of last season. The 26-year-old was forced to miss three weeks with his hamstring injury last year, but it is unclear if his most recent tweak occurred on the same leg.

Niemann suffered a hamstring injury during last week's win over the Falcons. It would've been tough to return in Week 17 under normal circumstances, and there's no reason to rush him back with the top spot in the AFC locked up. Darius Harris likely will bump into a starting role in the season finale.

Niemann continues to rotate in among a deep group of linebackers for the Chiefs, playing 43 percent of the snaps in Monday's contest. While many teams are utilizing linebacker-heavy packages less often these days in the pass-driven NFL, Niemann logged north of 400 defensive snaps thanks in part to starter Anthony Hitchens missing a pair of games in the middle of the season. Niemann should serve in a similar reserve role in 2020, but he could see his playing time increase if one or more starting linebackers misses time.

Niemann logged no more than 23 percent of the defensive snaps prior to Sunday night's contest, when he played 86 percent. He could be set for another big day next week if Hitchens' groin issue keeps him out for another game.
