The Browns will waive Harley on Tuesday, Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports.
Harley impressed during training camp when several receivers went down with injuries, and he was used as a returner during preseason action. The Browns would be very interested in adding him to the practice squad, if Harley clears waivers. His dismissal suggests sixth-round draft pick Michael Woods (hamstring) will make the team and possibly be ready to go for Week 1 against Carolina. The Browns also have hybrid running back/receiver Demetric Felton to fill out the depth chart at wideout.

Browns' Mike Harley: Gets chance as returner
Harley caught three of seven targets for 30 yards and returned one kickoff for 19 yards in Sunday's preseason game against the Eagles.
It was a showcase day for Harley, who was on the field for 61 of Cleveland's 74 snaps and the latest to audition for the vacant return job. He lined up as a punt returner but did not get an opportunity to return one. Since Jakeem Grant went down with an Achilles injury, Ja'Marcus Bradley and now Harley have been given chances to return kicks and punts during preseason action. Others in camp that could pick up a return role are Demetric Felton and Donovan Peoples-Jones. As for Harley's chances at wideout, the undrafted free agent out the University of Miami is a long shot and more likely headed for the practice squad.

Browns' Mike Harley: Returns to practice
Harley (ankle) was back at practice Tuesday after leaving the previous day's session early, Anthony Poisal of the Browns' official site reports.
Harley walked off the field Monday accompanied by team training staff, but the absence was a short one. As a testament to the ankle being fine, during Tuesday's session, Harley made a nice leaping catch over cornerback Parnell Motley, but the receiver's feet landed out of bounds. He's in a battle for the fifth wideout job, as the Browns prepare for two days of joint practice with Eagles leading up to Sunday's preseason matchup between the two teams.

Browns' Mike Harley: Suffers ankle injury
Harley walked off the practice field Monday accompanied by a trainer due to an ankle injury, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Harley made inroads during training camp due to injuries to several wideouts but now finds himself on the sideline. The undrafted rookie played 30 snaps and was not targeted in the Browns' preseason opener against the Jaguars last Friday.

Harley's path to a roster spot improved after Jakeem Grant suffered an Achilles injury during Tuesday's practice, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.
In addition to Grant's injury, which is feared to be a torn Achilles, sixth-round draft pick Michael Woods will miss time due to a hamstring injury, creating reps and opportunities for receivers like Harley further down the depth chart. Harley is a undrafted free agent out Miami (Fla.) that gained kickoff return experience during his time in college. Since Grant was slated to serve as the club's primary return man on both kickoffs and punts, Harley should be among the many players the Browns audition for either role during the preseason.
