Cowboys' Sean McKeon: Joining up with active roster
Dallas signed McKeon from its practice squad to the 53-man roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game versus Chicago, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
McKeon had already been brought up with his three allowed standard elevations, and with regular starting tight end Dalton Schultz (knee) still struggling with a PCL sprain, the Cowboys saw fit to promote McKeon for good. He has one reception for 10 yards on one target through three games in 2022.

Sean McKeon: Reverts to practice squad
McKeon reverted to the Cowboys' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
McKeon was elevated for the third time this season ahead of Sunday's 24-6 win over the Lions. However, the third-year tight end saw his lowest offensive usage of the year, playing 16 of his 18 snaps on special teams against Detroit. McKeon has now recorded one reception (on one target) for 10 yards in 2022, and he will require a full spot on the active roster in order to suit up for Dallas again this season.

Dallas elevated McKeon to the 53-man roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's Week 7 clash against the Commanders.
This is the third elevation of the season for McKeon, who was also active in Weeks 3 and 6. He has logged 20 total offensive snaps on the campaign, catching his only target for 10 yards. Since he's now been elevated three times, he'll need to be signed to the 53-man roster the next time the Cowboys desire his services for gameday.

McKeon was elevated to Dallas' active roster for the second game in a row, as tight end Dalton Schultz was still unable to suit up while dealing with a lingering PCL sprain. As a result, the 24-year-old hauled in his lone target for 10 yards while playing nine of the Cowboys' 67 offensive snaps behind Peyton Hendershot and Jake Ferguson. McKeon also appeared on seven special-teams snaps, and he is now eligible for just one more elevation from Dallas' practice squad this season.

The Cowboys waived McKeon (ankle) on Tuesday, Rob Phillips of the Cowboys' official site reports.
McKeon has appeared in 23 games for Dallas over the last two seasons, securing four of six targets for 27 yards and a touchdown during that time. However, he was unable to make the Cowboys' 53-man roster in 2022. He dealt with an ankle injury in practice last week, and it's not yet clear when he'll be back to full health. However, the 24-year-old wasn't waived with an injury designation, so he'll be free to sign elsewhere if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

Cowboys' Sean McKeon: Opportunity for bigger role
McKeon participated in workouts with Dak Prescott and other key members of the Cowboys offense earlier this month, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Top tight end Dalton Schultz was part of the group, as were CeeDee Lamb, Ezekiel Elliott and 2022 third-round pick Jalen Tolbert, which makes the inclusion of a depth TE like McKeon stand out. Heading into his third NFL season, the undrafted player out of Michigan has seen most of his action on special teams so far, but with Blake Jarwin no long on the Dallas roster, McKeon has a chance to win a much more significant role on offense. His main competition for the No. 2 spot behind Schultz will likely come from rookie Jake Ferguson, a fourth-round pick in this year's draft.
