Bills' Siran Neal: In mix for starting spot
Neal is expected to compete for a starting spot opposite Tre'Davious White, Dante Lasting of the Bills' official site reports.
The open spot seems to be up for grabs between Dane Jackson, first-round rookie Kaiir Elam and Neal. The latter may be more valuable in a more all-around role due to his versatility, and if that comes into fruition, Neal will end up playing a key jack-of-all-trades role, a hybrid spot he's excelled at. While his two teammates are more natural cornerbacks, Neal does have the most tenure of the three and has done well with anything the Bills have thrown at him in his four-year career. This is a job battle worth monitoring throughout the summer, and if White is slow to return from his knee injury, it could end up being two of the three competitors that end up with a starting job to begin the season.

Bills' Siran Neal: Re-ups with Buffalo
Neal re-signed Wednesday with the Bills on a three-year deal worth up to $10.9 million, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The 2018 fifth-round pick hasn't been a regular starter during his four seasons in Buffalo, but he's provided excellent depth in a strong Bills secondary to go with solid special teams play. Neal also has the ability to fill in at several positions if injuries or schemes dictate as such, so the Bills' decision to bring him back on a long-term deal makes sense.

Bills' Siran Neal: Ready for Sunday
Neal was not listed on the Bills injury report Wednesday.
Neal exited Sunday's game against Miami after suffering a head injury, and while the extent of the injury was unclear at the time, the 26-year-old is not listed as injured. So long as he remains healthy, Neal is expected to suit up for Saturday's playoff game against the Colts.

Bills' Siran Neal: Leaves with head injury
Neal exited Sunday's game against the Dolphins to be evaluated for a head injury.
Neal had three total tackles and one pass breakup before exiting during the second half. The Bills are winning in blowout fashion midway through the fourth quarter, so the 26-year-old could be held out regardless of the results of the evaluation.

Bills' Siran Neal: Quick COVID-19 turnaround
Neal was activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
Neal just went on the list last Thursday at the opening of camp, so he quickly cleared all the NFL's COVID-19-related protocols. He'll now begin trying to land a spot with the Bills as a reserve defensive back, and it's worth noting there's one less person in front of him after E.J. Gaines opted out of the season earlier this week.

Bills' Siran Neal: Sent to COVID-19 list
Neal is one of five Bills that have been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Sal Maiorana of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports.
That means Neal has either tested positive for the virus or been in close contact with someone that's been infected. The reserve defensive back has plenty of time to recover and stake his claim for a roster spot, but for now he's one of several that will be kept away from training camp happenings.

Bills' Siran Neal: Participates in walkthrough
Neal, who missed Sunday's game due to a concussion suffered in Week 11, was listed as a full participant on Monday's estimated practice report.
It's a great sign the depth defensive back and special teams player is almost through the concussion protocol, but the Bills didn't have a real practice either, as Monday was just a walkthrough session. Neal will have just a few more days to get fully cleared ahead of the Thanksgiving Day game in Dallas.

Bills' Siran Neal: To miss Week 12
Neal, who suffered a concussion in last week's game against Miami, will miss Sunday's game against the Broncos, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
Neal has never played 50 percent of the defensive snaps in any game in his two-year pro career, but he's a good special teams guy, so the Bills will have to replace his usual work in a game that, on paper, could be a close, low-scoring contest.

Wednesday's injury report confirmed the news of Neal's concussion after the cornerback was forced to leave Sunday's game in the second quarter. He'll need to pass league protocol if he wants to suit up against Denver on Nov. 24.
