Eagles' Boston Scott: Not playing Monday
Scott (concussion) has been ruled out ahead of Monday's matchup against the Buccaneers.
Scott did participate in Saturday's practice in limited fashion, but it wasn't enough for him to suit up against the Buccaneers. Kenneth Gainwell (ribs) didn't have an injury listed on the team's final injury report, meaning the Philadelphia backfield can certainly manage the loss of Scott with Gainwell, D'Andre Swift and Rashaad Penny all likely seeing playing time Monday.

Eagles' Boston Scott: Still limited due to concussion
Scott (concussion) was a limited participant in practice Friday.
Contrary to an earlier report, it seems that Scott has yet to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol, though his limited practice Friday was a step in the right direction. Fellow running back Kenneth Gainwell (ribs) was a full participant Friday, leaving Scott as the likely No. 3 back (behind Gainwell and D'Andre Swift) if he's able to play Monday night in Tampa.

Eagles' Boston Scott: Clears concussion protocol
Scott cleared concussion protocol and returned to practice Friday, Josh Tolentino of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Scott is thus set to play Monday in Tampa Bay, getting some help from the extra rest period after Philly's win over Minnesota last Thursday night. Scott left that game early with a concussion, while D'Andre Swift dominated backfield work en route to 175 rushing yards and Rashaad Penny mixed in only occasionally. The big question this week is whether Week 1 lead back Kenneth Gainwell can return from the rib injury that held him out Week 2. If so, Scott likely will be marginalized and Swift's workload will be much tougher to project.

Eagles' Boston Scott: Not ready to practice
Scott (concussion) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.
Scott remains in the NFL's concussion protocol after he exited the Eagles' Week 2 win over the Vikings on Sept. 14. While the running back might have made progress through the five-step protocol on some level in the ensuing week, Scott evidently didn't show enough improvement to get back on the practice field. He'll have two more chances to fit in some practice activity and potentially clear the protocol before the Eagles will have to give him a designation for Monday's game at Tampa Bay.

Eagles' Boston Scott: In concussion protocol
Scott exited Thursday's game against the Vikings with a head injury and is in concussion protocol.
Scott exited the game in the third quarter, though it's unclear exactly how the injury occurred. With Kenneth Gainwell (ribs) sidelined, Scott worked as the change-of-pace back behind D'Andre Swift and had tallied five carries for 40 yards before being sidelined. Assuming Scott can't return, Swift should see a lot of the work out of the backfield with Rashaad Penny potentially mixing in.

Eagles' Boston Scott: Could see increased role Week 2
Zach Berman of The Athletic speculates that Scott will be active along with D'Andre Swift and Rashaad Penny for Philadelphia's Week 2 contest against Minnesota on Thursday.
Scott played a minimal role on offense during a season-opening win over the Patriots, carrying once for three yards and catching his only target for seven yards. He could see more work against the Vikings on Thursday with Kenneth Gainwell (ribs) -- who was the Eagles' lead tailback Week 1 -- ruled out. However, Swift figures to step in as the starter, and Penny will likely be active after being a healthy scratch for the opener, so Scott isn't guaranteed to see enough of a workload to be a viable fantasy play.

Eagles' Boston Scott: Minimal impact in Week 1
Scott carried the ball once for three yards and caught one pass for seven yards in Sunday's win over the Patriots.
With Miles Sanders now in Carolina and new additions D'Andre Swift (19 snaps) and Rashaad Penny (healthy scratch) not having large roles, there theoretically could have been room for Scott to make his mark. Instead, the sixth-year back saw the field for just eight offensive snaps, with Kenneth Gainwell (41 snaps) being used as the clear starter. It seems reasonable to assume Swift's role will only grow from here, and Penny's can't get any smaller, so there doesn't seem to be much room for Scott to claim a meaningful amount of touches.
