Ben Gedeon: Waived following failed physical
The Vikings waived Gedeon from the reserve/PUP list Tuesday with a failed physical designation.
Gedeon was approaching the 11-week milestone where the Vikings would need to either activate him from the PUP list, keep him on PUP list all year or waive him. The Vikings opted to let him go, and he'll be eligible to sign with another team once he's healthy.

Vikings' Ben Gedeon: Placed on PUP list
The Vikings placed Gedeon (undisclosed) on the reserve/PUP list Saturday, Craig Peters and Eric Smith of the team's official site reports.
Gedeon was unable to pass a physical, so he'll miss the first six weeks of the season. It's unclear what's holding him back, but it's noteworthy that his 2019 campaign ended with him on injured reserve due to a concussion. With Gedeon out of the fold, Troy Dye and Hardy Nickerson will be the main backups to Eric Wilson and Anthony Barr.

Vikings' Ben Gedeon: Dealing with injury

Gedeon saw his season end last season after multiple concussions, and as evidenced by this news, he failed his physical with the team heading into training camp. The Michigan product is heading into his final season with the Vikings under his current contract, so he will be eager to make an impact in a depth and special teams role once healthy.

Vikings' Ben Gedeon: Lands on IR
The Vikings placed Gedeon (concussion) on injured reserve Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Gedeon was already ruled out for Monday's matchup against the Seahawks after sustaining his second concussion of the year Nov. 17. The third-year linebacker will finish the season with 13 tackles over eight games. Eric Wilson and Anthony Barr are the remaining healthy outside linebackers for the time being.

It's unclear how Gedeon picked up the injury, but he was forced to leave the game in the third quarter. He'll now enter the league's mandated concussion protocol, and need be cleared before resuming football activities.
