Dolphins' DeAndre Washington: Not suiting up in finale
Washington (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Bills.
Washington will be in street clothes for the second straight contest with all four of Miami's other running backs (Myles Gaskin, Salvon Ahmed, Matt Breida and Patrick Laird) at full strength. After being acquired from the Chiefs in early November, Washington didn't make much of an impact in three games he played with the Dolphins this season, carrying 28 times for 86 yards (3.1 average) to go with four receptions for 28 yards on nine targets.

Myles Gaskin will return to the lineup this week after a stint on the reserve/COVID-19 list. He and Salvon Ahmed figure to handle most of the backfield work in Saturday's crucial AFC clash; Matt Brieda and Patrick Laird should rotate in occasionally as well.

Washington will be joined by Salvon Ahmed and Matt Breida in Miami's Week 15 backfield against the Patriots, Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post reports.
Patrick Laird is also on hand, but with the team's pass catchers banged up Sunday, the Dolphins will need all they can get from the team's running backs. Look for a committee/hot hand approach to dictate the team's carries versus New England.

Dolphins' DeAndre Washington: No action vs. Patriots
Washington did not see the field during Sunday's 22-12 win over New England.
Washington saw his role on offense vanish following the return of both Salvon Ahmed and Matt Breida to the lineup Sunday, as he worked as Miami's reserve No. 4 back. Even if Myles Gaskin (undisclosed) misses more time on the COVID-19 list, it looks like Washington won't be very involved Week 16.

Dolphins' DeAndre Washington: Doesn't do much with lead role
Washington rushed 13 times for 35 yards and caught two of four targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 33-27 loss to Kansas City.
Washington was the workhorse on the ground with Myles Gaskin and Matt Breida both on the reserve/COVID-19 list and Salvon Ahmed (shoulder) inactive. He didn't do much with the opportunity, however, averaging just 2.7 yards per carry against his former team. Washington will likely retain the lead role in Week 15 against the Patriots if none of the three aforementioned running backs are ready to return, but he'll be hard to trust after this disappointing showing.

Dolphins' DeAndre Washington: Unexpectedly top dog
Washington is likely to start Sunday against the Chiefs after Myles Gaskin was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
With Myles Gaskin and Matt Breida both on the reserve/COVID-19 list along with Salvon Ahmed (shoulder) being ruled out Friday, Washington will essentially be forced into a prime spot against his former team. The 27-year-old saw a decent amount of work two weeks ago with the Dolphins' running-back depth in shambles, tallying 15 total touches for 60 yards, but he promptly was ruled out the following week after injuring his hamstring. The fifth-year back has carried the ball more than 10 times in a game just eight times in his career, but he was relatively prolific in his stint as the starter toward the end of last season with the Raiders, accumulating 238 total yards across 50 touches during a two-game stretch. It's worth noting both Patrick Laird and Lynn Bowden figure to sap away some of Washington's receiving opportunities so it's unlikely the back will have a full starter's workload against his former team Sunday.

Dolphins' DeAndre Washington: Sheds injury label
Washington (hamstring) isn't listed on Miami's final injury report ahead of Sunday's game against Kansas City, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
Washington is projected to back up Myles Gaskin against the vulnerable Chiefs run defense with Salvon Ahmed (shoulder) ruled out. Matt Breida could also factor into Miami's backfield plans but will need to be removed from the reserve/COVID-19 list by 4 p.m. Saturday in order to be eligible to play.

Dolphins' DeAndre Washington: Limited to start week
Washington (hamstring) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice, Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.
Washington wasn't able to play in last weekend's win over the Bengals, but he could have a fair shot at returning to action Week 14 versus the Chiefs. If Salvon Ahmed (shoulder) and Matt Breida (illness) both miss more time, a healthy Washington could work as the No. 2 option behind Myles Gaskin (knee).

Dolphins' DeAndre Washington: Idle for Week 13 game
Washington (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Washington will be one three Dolphins running backs sidelined for Week 13 with Salvon Ahmed (shoulder) also inactive and Matt Brieda (illness) on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Fortunately for Miami, it will get some reinforcement at the position in the form of Myles Gaskin (knee), who was activated from injured reserve after practicing for the second week in a row. Considering Gaskin had been a three-down back for Miami prior to suffering his injury Week 8, he'll likely operate as the team's top option moving forward. That will likely result in the likes of Washington, Ahmed and Breida all being limited to complementary roles once they all overcome their respective health concerns.
