  • Bears' Christian Jones: Blanked in finale

Jones posted no stats in the Bears' 31-17 Week 18 loss to the Vikings, and he ended the season with 24 tackles.

Although Jones played in every game this season, he averaged fewer than two tackles per game, and in five different games, he failed to record a tackle. He'll be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but unless he can land a role in which he sees significant snaps, he'll have little IDP value.

  • Bears' Christian Jones: Fully practices Wednesday

Jones (finger) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice session.

Jones sustained a finger injury last week, but it doesn't appear as though he'll be limited by the issue ahead of Week 17. He's played just two defensive snaps across the last two weeks, and most of his playing time this year has come on special teams.

  • Bears' Christian Jones: Questionable with finger injury

Jones (finger) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Seahawks.

Jones exited to the locker room in the first half of the contest, and it's unclear if he'll be able to return to action. The linebacker has logged more than 50 percent of defensive snaps in just one game this season.

  • Bears' Christian Jones: Comes off COVID list

The Bears activated Jones (undisclosed) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.

Jones spent just under a week progressing through the league's protocols for COVID-19. He can now return to practice with more than enough time to prepare for the Aug. 14 preseason contest against the Dolphins.

  • Bears' Christian Jones: On COVID list

Jones (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday.

It's unclear whether Jones tested positive for the virus or is out due to contact tracing, but he'll need to clear the health and safety protocols regardless. Jones will have nearly two weeks to return to practice before the preseason opener Aug. 14 versus the Dolphins.

  • Bears' Christian Jones: Back in Chicago

Jones signed a one-year contract with the Bears on Tuesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

After spending his first four NFL seasons in Chicago, Jones played for the Lions over the last three years. However, he's coming back to the Bears for the 2021 campaign. The 30-year-old linebacker accrued 57 tackles and a pass breakup over 16 games last season. He figures to take on a rotational role next year behind fellow outside linebackers Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn.

  • Christian Jones: Cut loose by Detroit

The Lions informed Jones of his release Monday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The 30-year-old linebacker made 42 starts for Detroit over the past three seasons, averaging 59 tackles, 2.7 pass defenses and one sack per year. Although he has 73 NFL starts to his name, Jones could be viewed as more of a backup on the open market.

  • Lions' Christian Jones: Another average season

Jones recorded 57 tackles and one pass breakup over 16 games in 2020.

Your proverbial jack of all trades but master of none, Jones followed up a solid 2019 campaign with another one in 2020. However, both the head coach and general manager that valued his versatility have been fired, making it possible that Jones has played his last game with Detroit. The Lions could save over $2 million against the salary cap by letting go of the soon-to-be 30-year-old this offseason.

  • Lions' Christian Jones: Off injury report

Jones (knee) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Bears.

Jones practiced on a limited basis Thursday and Friday after missing Wednesday's practice, but he evidently showed enough in those limited sessions to come off the injury report. The linebacker will look to add to his season total of 40 tackles against a Chicago team with which he spent the first four seasons of his career from 2014-17.

  • Lions' Christian Jones: Managing practice reps

Jones was limited at Thursday's practice due to a knee injury.

Following a missed practice Wednesday, it's a positive sign that Jones was able to participate in some capacity a day later. Jones should have a good chance to suit up in Sunday's game against the Bears, but if he's forced to sit, Jalen Reeves-Maybin would be in line for an uptick in snaps.

  • Lions' Christian Jones: Starts week with missed practice

    Jones (knee) didn't practice Wednesday.

Jones has battled a nagging knee injury for much of the season, but he avoided the injury report entirely last week. If he can get back to practicing Thursday or Friday, Jones will have a good shot to suit up Sunday in Chicago.

  • Lions' Christian Jones: Good to go for Week 11

Jones (knee) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Panthers, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.

Jones was limited at all three of Detroit's practices this week but evidently looked good enough to get cleared for game day. As a result, he'll be out there in his usual spot as a starting outside linebacker Sunday.

  • Lions' Christian Jones: Held back at Wednesday's practice

Jones (knee) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.

Jones logged a pair of limited practices last week but ended up playing against the Football Team, although he handled a season-low 22 percent snap share on defense. Perhaps his knee injury caused the drop in usage, but his limited practice capacity to start the week bodes well for his availability in this Sunday's contest against the Panthers.

  • Lions' Christian Jones: Active against Minnesota

Jones (knee) is active for Sunday's game versus the Vikings.

Jones has logged exactly 51 percent of the defensive workload in each of the past two games, totaling eight tackles (two solo) in that stretch. He's expected to remain as the team's starting inside linebacker, however, and he'll have the tall task of slowing down Dalvin Cook.
