It's unclear at this point what's wrong with Upshaw. (US Presswire)

Ravens first-round pick, linebacker Courtney Upshaw, has been placed on the team’s non-football injury list, according to the Baltimore Sun. It’s unclear what Upshaw’s injury actually is, but the newspaper writes that there was no sign of anything wrong with him in offseason workouts.

But before we get all hysterical about what this means, understand this: Upshaw -- expected to take over the linebacker spot vacated by Jarret Johnson -- could have been placed on this list if he didn’t pass his conditioning test.

Plus, Upshaw can be removed from the list at any time (in other words, until he passes his test). So, until we find out what’s actually going on with Upshaw, we remain skeptical that this is a major development.

UPDATED (11:39 a.m. ET): Upshaw has told reporters, including Ravens Insider, that he didn't pass his first conditioning test. But Upshaw also said he passed it in his second attempt, and he's been allowed to practice since.
