Lions coach Jim Caldwell has declined to provide specifics regarding linebacker DeAndre Levy's hip injury, The Detroit News reports.

Caldwell did not confirm or deny reports that Levy is dealing with an ailment brought on by a parasite. Levy's agent denied the reports, describing Levy's injury as a "muscle strain."

While the lack of information the team is providing on the injury may be frustrating fans, Caldwell indicated that Levy was not placed on injured reserve with a designation to return, a move that would have kept him out half the season, because "we thought obviously the avenue in which we took is the appropriate one at this time."
