Giants CB Terrell Thomas will try to practice on Saturday after sitting out the majority of Friday’s training camp session with a sore back.

Thomas, who said he’s “never had back problems,” is coming off a torn ACL and could reclaim his starting spot if he's healthy.

He's unsure what caused the back injury, but there are no shortage of culprits.

“I’ve been doing more than the stuff we’ve been doing here as far as the lifting and running,” Thomas said. “So, you know, it could have been all the traveling, all the sitting, you know, my hips are off and it just locked up on me.

“It’s something that’s, you know, happened before,” he continued. “You get stretched out and you’re good to go.”

Thomas insisted his back is “getting better” and he hasn’t been limited by his surgically repaired knee. It’s important to remember Thomas started and led the team in tackles and interceptions in 2009 and 2010, so he has the potential to be a playmaker in 2012.
