The Chiefs have moved C Rodney Hudson to the injured reserve because of a broken bone in his leg, and he will miss the rest of the season.
Kansas City, short on offensive line depth, added two linemen in veteran G/C Russ Hochstein and third-year G Bryan Mattison.
Hochstein has played 12 seasons in the NFL and last played with the Broncos from 2009-2011. He appeared in 15 games in 2011 and was a starter in Denver for six games in 2010. He was in training camp with the Cardinals but did not make the roster.
Mattison, a third-year pro out of Iowa, played 15 games in his first two seasons in the league. He started his career with Baltimore and spent the final five games of 2011 with the Rams, starting four games.
The Chiefs will continue to go with Ryan Lilja at center and rookie Jeff Allen at left guard. Lilja moved over from guard to center after Hudson got hurt Sunday against New Orleans. The other option would be to slide Hochstein in at either center or guard, moving Allen back to a reserve role. For now, both Hochstein and Mattison will come off the bench.
