It was an all-around bad day Sunday for the Chargers, who were blown out at home by the Atlanta Falcons, 27-3. Blame everybody: offense, defense, special teams and coaches.
Offense: F
The Chargers failed to reach the end zone for the first time in 151 games. The offense had four turnovers, including two fumbles deep in the red zone.
Defense: F
The Falcons offense converted 8 of 13 (62%) third-down opportunities. The D-line was unable to get consistent pressure on QB Matt Ryan. The secondary played soft and Ryan completed 30 of 40 passes for 275 yards and three TDs.
Special teams: D
P Mike Scifres uncharacteristically kicked the ball off the side of his foot while punting out of the end zone in the fourth quarter. The 29-yard punt gave the Falcons the ball on the San Diego 32. Three plays later, Atlanta put the game out of reach with a touchdown.
Coaching: F
The Chargers looked unprepared in all three phases. The Falcons were coming off a Monday night game and even skipped their padded practice, but nonetheless dominated the game.
