The Browns quarterback battle is one of the weirdest things about the 2012 NFL offseason. Not because it's like surprising -- everyone knows Brandon Weeden's going to start but Cleveland's going through the awkward charade of pretending like Seneca Wallace and Colt McCoy have a shot at winning the gig.
At least the pawns involved understand what's going down, though. When discussing the possibility of all three quarterbacks being on the roster to start the season, Wallace said "probably not" on Tuesday.
"Can any of you guys see all three of us being here?'' Wallace said, per Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. "You've written about it, so that answers your question ... Probably not."
Wallace also said he had no interest in being QB3 for the Browns next season (it's hard to blame him) and wouldn't say whether or not he'd demand a trade if he lost out to McCoy in the backup race.
"I don't know," Wallace said. "We'll see when it gets to that point."
That point will likely be the end of training camp. Wallace couldn't beat out McCoy last season, so it's unlikely he'll beat him out this year, unless a) all of Wallace's mentor volunteering really pays off or b) Mike Holmgren and Pat Shurmur just hate Colt and want to make his life miserable.
Don't rule out either scenario. The only thing for certain in Cleveland is that Weeden's walking away with this "competition."
