Training camp ended for the Broncos on Friday morning, but only technically.

"We're still in camp mode, although we won't be on the camp schedule," said Broncos coach John Fox, who added that the players will continue to stay at a nearby Ramada Inn rather than commuting from home for practices in the next two weeks.

Next week's schedule will resemble that of the regular season. Instead of two on-field sessions per day (with one a walk-through), as was the case Tuesday and Thursday, the Broncos are expected to work once, at around mid-day.

Perhaps the biggest change, though, will be the absence of fans crowding the grassy knolls and wildly cheering even the most modest accomplishment. Even routine catches against no defenders were often cause for applause.

"It has been nice, just because you get to some of those dog days, and you can feed off their energy a little bit," said WR Eric Decker. "But as a team, I think it's good for us to install some stuff. We don't want to always show people (that)."

Players took the field in shorts and jerseys for a 75-minute walk-through Friday, but were quickly herded back to retrieve their shells for the session.

"I think there is a little confusion between in-season shorts and offseason shorts," said Fox, whose players usually practiced in nothing but shorts and jerseys during organized team activities. "We got that corrected."

Not practicing: DE Jason Hunter (torn triceps muscle), RG Chris Kuper (broken forearm), CB Tracy Porter (illness), safeties Quinton Carter (knee, hamstring) and Jim Leonhard (knee), DT Kevin Vickerson (concussion), LBs Danny Trevathan (ankle) and Keith Brooking (hamstring) all sat out. All but Hunter and Kuper were on hand watching from the sideline.

Back to work: RB Ronnie Hillman returned after aggravating a previous hamstring injury. Fox said Hillman's status for Saturday's contest against the Seattle Seahawks will be a game-time decision. However, it would be a surprise if Hillman did anything more than warm up. The Broncos are expected to be cautious, since they would prefer not to have Hillman's hamstring become a season-long issue.

Porter will also be a game-time decision, Fox said. If Porter doesn't play, look for Drayton Florence and Chris Harris to see plenty of first-team snaps.
