The moving trucks headed back west on Interstate 90 on Wednesday afternoon as the Bills broke training camp in suburban Rochester and headed to their home in Orchard Park. Buffalo had a light practice Wednesday morning before leaving.

Coach Chan Gailey had only positive things to say about the camp setting at St. John Fisher College.

“It brings your team together where you can focus strictly on football and get away from everything else, that’s the advantage of it,” Gailey said. “I’ve done it both ways -- I see some advantages the other way, too. But it really works well for us, it’s a great opportunity for us to come [here].

"This is one great camp setup, the best I’ve been in.”

The Bills resume camp at their facility in Orchard Park next week.

Pears has a chance: RT Erik Pears (hernia/groin) did not participate in Wednesday’s brief session but has a chance of playing in Friday’s preseason game against Minnesota. “We just rested him today, we think he’s got a chance to make it still,” Gailey said.

Heard returns: DT Kellen Heard was on the practice field after suffering a right leg injury Tuesday night. “Tests were negative,” Gailey said. “He fought through it. He wasn’t 100 percent but he made it through practice, and he’ll get better in the next two days and I think he’ll be able to play.”

QB plan: Vince Young and Tyler Thigpen will switch places on the depth chart for Friday’s game -- Young will work with the second team, Thigpen with the third team. Thigpen worked with the second team and Young with the third team in the preseason opener against the Redskins. The two remain in a competition for the primary backup job. Gailey hopes they can get equal reps against Minnesota. “It didn’t happen last week, Tyler got 19 and Vince got 30,” Gailey said. “We’d like to stay at 20 and 20 if we can.”
