Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Option picked up
The Spurs exercised their fourth-year team option on Sochan (rest) on Friday, Ty Jager of FanSided.com reports.
Sochan was rested, along with several other starters, in the Spurs' preseason finale. He is expected to start at power forward once the regular season tips off. He produced a double-double with 18 points (9-13 FG), 11 rebounds, an assist and a steal across 28 minutes in his last exhibition game.

Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Resting against Houston
Sochan will sit out Thursday's preseason game against the Rockets, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports.
Sochan will sit out San Antonio's preseason finale for rest purposes alongside Victor Wembanyama, Chris Paul and Keldon Johnson. All of these players should be available for the team's regular-season opener against the Mavericks on Oct. 24.

Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Double-double against Miami
Sochan scored 18 points (9-13 FG) while adding 11 rebounds, an assist and a steal in 28 minutes during Tuesday's 120-117 preseason loss to the Heat.
Getting the start at power forward, Sochan put together his best performance of the preseason while leading the Spurs in scoring. It's still not clear how Gregg Popovich plans to deploy the third-year player, but if he can hang onto a starting spot in the frontcourt next to Victor Wembanyama, a career-best campaign should follow.

Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Comes close to double-double
Sochan delivered 15 points (7-12 FG, 1-4 FT), eight rebounds, an assist and three steals across 25 minutes in Saturday's 126-120 preseason win over the Jazz.
The Spurs had four players who scored at least 15 points in this game, and Sochan also led the team in rebounding with eight boards. His scoring and rebounding numbers should decrease if Victor Wembanyama (rest) plays at center, but either way, Sochan should be in line for another season as a starter.

Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Not injured in car crash
Sochan was not injured after crashing his car into a guardrail in San Antonio on Aug. 24, James Herbert of CBS Sports reports.
Sochan told police he "lost control of his vehicle" and hit a guardrail on the ramp connecting two highways. His car was the only one involved in the crash, and while there was extensive damage to his Porsche, Sochan refused EMS services and walked away unharmed. After a promising rookie campaign, Sochan was shifted to point guard last year, but that experiment failed miserably. After moving back to forward, Sochan found his footing again and is expected to play a key role in the Spurs' frontcourt next to Victor Wembanyama in 2024-25.

Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Plays for Polish national team
Sochan (ankle) averaged 18.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.5 steals, 1.0 three-pointers and 1.0 blocks in 29.0 minutes per game over his two appearances for the Polish national team this month in Olympic qualifying tournament games.
Sochan saw extended playing time in losses to The Bahamas and Finland in group play. Though Poland has now been eliminated from qualifying for a spot in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, the 21-year-old Sochan looks like he'll head into training camp at full health for the Spurs after missing the club's final eight games of the 2023-24 season due to a left ankle impingement.

Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Will miss rest of season
Sochan has been ruled out for the rest of the 2023-24 season due to a left ankle impingement, Dan Weiss of Bally Sports San Antonio reports.
The power forward will undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair the ankle injury, so the Spurs are shutting him down with less than two weeks left in the campaign. The Spurs hope that Sochan will be ready for the 2024-25 season, during which he figures to play a prominent role once again. Sochan ends the 2023-24 campaign with averages of 11.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.5 blocks across 29.6 minutes per game, shooting 43.8 percent from the field and 30.8 percent from beyond the arc.

Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Could be done for season
Sochan could miss the rest of the season due to the left ankle impingement he suffered in Friday's 130-126 loss to the Knicks, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports. "Whatever the doctors tell me when they all look at the pictures is when I will know something," Popovich said of Sochan's timeline for a return. "I'm not going to guess."
Sochan had played in each of the Spurs' first 74 games of the season before sitting out Sunday's 117-113 loss to the Warriors. With his goal of playing in all 82 games now dashed, Sochan may be inclined to proceed cautiously with his recovery from the ankle injury over the final two weeks of the season, especially since he plans to play for the Polish national team at the 2024 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament in early July. For their part, the Spurs seem inclined to take a game-by-game approach with Sochan's status, but the second-year forward should at least be viewed as doubtful to play in San Antonio's next contest Tuesday in Denver.
