Brunson (ankle) said prior to Sunday's game against the Trail Blazers that he has been cleared for basketball activities and is hopeful to return to action by the end of the regular season, though the Knicks haven't provided a specific timeline for his return, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. "Realistically, I'm hoping to play before the playoffs," Brunson said. "I think it's good for me to get some game reps before we go into that type of stretch run. Most importantly, I want to make sure I'm 100 percent healthy." Brunson hasn't played since spraining his right ankle March 6, and while he said Sunday that he's "progressing every day," he seems likely to miss at least a few more games while he ramps back up. The All-Star point guard's absence has loomed larger of late with backups Miles McBride (groin) and Cameron Payne (ankle) also dealing with injuries, leaving Delon Wright and Tyler Kolek to serve as the team's primary facilitators. The Knicks have gone 6-6 during Brunson's absence and would surely like to have the 28-year-old get at least a couple games under his belt before the end of the regular season to ensure that he's a full go for the postseason.... Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Out again Sunday
Brunson (ankle) will not play Sunday against the Trail Blazers. Brunson will be sidelined for a 12th game in a row Sunday. However, he's been able to do some light work at recent practices, and a return in the near future could be on the table. His next chance to play comes April 1 against the 76ers, the first leg of a back-to-back set.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Out at least one more week
The Knicks announced Saturday that Brunson (ankle) is taking part in controlled court work and will have his status updated in one week. Brunson has missed seven straight games since suffering a sprained right ankle in a March 6 loss to the Lakers. New York will likely continue to roll with Miles McBride (groin) as its starting point guard until Brunson is healthy enough to return to the floor.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Ditches walking boot
Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau said Thursday that Brunson (ankle) is no longer confined to a walking boot and has been able to do some light shooting, Steve Popper of Newsday reports. The Knicks hope to have Brunson back before the regular season ends, but until the star guard is able to take part in practice, his return to game action shouldn't be viewed as imminent. Brunson sustained a right ankle sprain in a March 6 overtime loss to the Lakers and has missed the Knicks' last six contests.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Still working through ankle injury
Brunson (ankle) is likely to remain out for another 1-to-2 weeks, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Brunson has been out of action since spraining his right ankle in a March 6 overtime loss to the Lakers. The All-Star point guard is still dealing with some inflammation in the ankle that has affected his mobility, but the Knicks are optimistic that he'll be back to 100 percent health ahead of the postseason. He's scheduled to be re-evaluated by the team Thursday, at which point a more concrete timeline for his return will be available. With Brunson's absence expected to stretch into late March or early April, however, fantasy managers in redraft leagues that don't run through the end of the regular season may be best served moving on from the 28-year-old. Miles McBride has started at point guard in place of Brunson over the last three games and has averaged 13.0 points, 6.0 assists, 3.0 three-pointers, 2.3 steals and 2.0 rebounds in 34.7 minutes per contest.... Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Update on status in two weeks
The Knicks have announced an update on Brunson's (ankle) will be given in two weeks. In Thursday's loss to the Lakers, Brunson went down with a sprained right ankle. Although it looked like a severe injury in real time, the Knicks superstar might be able to get back on the floor before the end of March. In the meantime, New York could turn to Cameron Payne and Miles McBride to shoulder the load in the backcourt.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Ruled out Friday
Brunson (ankle) won't play in Friday's game versus the Clippers. Despite the negative X-rays on Brunson's right ankle, the star guard will miss Friday's contest and could be sidelined for additional games. In his absence, Cameron Payne and Miles McBride will likely receive increased playing time. Brunson's next chance to suit up is Monday's matchup with Sacramento.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Imaging comes back clean
The Knicks announced Friday that X-rays done on Brunson's right ankle came back negative, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports. Brunson suffered a sprained right ankle in Thursday's overtime loss to the Lakers, but additional testing appears to confirm that the star guard has avoided a serious injury. Still, Brunson's status for Friday's matchup with the Clippers is uncertain.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Sprains ankle late Thursday
The Knicks believe that Brunson sustained nothing more than a sprained right ankle in overtime of Thursday's 113-109 loss to the Lakers, NBA reporter Chris Haynes reports. Brunson was injured on a drive to the basket, when he appeared to twist his ankle and foot after making contact with the Lakers' Austin Reaves. The point guard hit a pair of free-throw attempts after the play, but he checked out of the game for good with 1:20 remaining in the extra period and finished the night with 39 points (13-26 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 12-13 FT), 10 assists and four rebounds in 41 minutes. Brunson will presumably go through further testing before the Knicks provide an update on the severity of his ankle sprain, but even a minor tweak would put the 28-year-old at risk of missing the second leg of a back-to-back set Friday versus the Clippers. If Brunson is unable to play Friday, Miles McBride would likely move into the starting five and take on expanded minutes, while reserve guards Cameron Payne and Landry Shamet could also see heightened roles.... Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Night ends early due to ankle injury
Brunson exited with 1:20 remaining in overtime of Thursday's 113-109 loss to the Lakers due to an apparent right ankle sprain and didn't return to the game, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.com reports. He finished with 39 points (13-26 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 12-13 FT), 10 assists and four rebounds in 41 minutes. Brunson suffered the injury after landing on Austin Reaves' foot while driving to the basket, and he immediately checked out of the game and headed to the locker room. The severity of Brunson's injury isn't known, but with the Knicks facing the Clippers on Friday in the second leg of a back-to-back set, he'll likely be at risk of missing his second game of the season.... Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Scores 25 points in loss
Brunson had 25 points (9-18 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 6-7 FT), two rebounds, seven assists and one steal across 37 minutes during Tuesday's 114-102 loss to the Warriors. Brunson went toe-to-toe with Stephen Curry all game long, but in the end, the Knicks ended on the wrong side of this game in a 12-point loss. That said, Brunson at least extended his outstanding stretch of play since the league resumed following the All-Star break. He's surpassed the 20-point mark in seven straight outings, a span in which he's averaging 26.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Paces team with 31 points
Brunson registered 31 points (13-25 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 2-4 FT), five rebounds, six assists and two steals in 42 minutes during Sunday's 116-112 overtime win over the Heat. Although Brunson struggled beyond the arc in the narrow victory, his 31 points helped to erase an 11-point deficit entering the fourth quarter. Brunson has been on an insane tear since the All-Star break, averaging 25.4 points, 6.6 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals over five games.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Stuffs stat sheet Friday
Brunson chipped in 23 points (10-23 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds, six assists, three steals and one block over 36 minutes during Friday's 114-113 victory over the Grizzlies. Brunson recorded team highs in points, rebounds, assists and steals Friday, stuffing the stat sheet in a close win. Additionally, the 28-year-old set a new season-high mark in swipes. The star point guard has scored 20 or more points in each of his last six outings, during which he has averaged 27.2 points, 6.8 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 2.7 three-pointers and 1.2 steals in 36.5 minutes per contest.... Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Big third quarter in loss
Brunson notched 22 points (9-19 FG, 4-9 3Pt), three rebounds, four assists and one steal in 38 minutes during Sunday's 118-105 loss to the Celtics. Brunson scored 15 of his 22 points in the third quarter of Sunday's game to help the Knicks reduce the deficit to four points, but the All-Star point guard was held scoreless in the final frame. Brunson could be heavily relied on offensively against the 76ers on Wednesday if Karl-Anthony Towns -- who briefly left Sunday's game due to a knee injury -- is unable to play. Brunson has averaged 26.3 points on 49.1 percent shooting, 6.9 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 0.9 steals over 35.1 minutes per game since the beginning of February.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Scores 22 points in OT win
Brunson ended Thursday's 113-111 overtime win over Chicago with 22 points (8-21 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds, 12 assists, one block and one steal over 38 minutes. The Knicks were a bit shorthanded Thursday, but Brunson handled a full workload and posted a solid stat line en route to his second double-double this month. Brunson has four double-doubles over his last 10 appearances, a span in which he's averaging 26.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, 8.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Starting for Team Kenny
Brunson will start for Kenny's Young Stars against Chuck's Global Stars in the first game of the NBA All-Star Game Tournament, Tim Reynolds of Associated Press reports. Brunson earned his second All-Star selection after being voted as a starter, and he will face off against Knicks teammate Karl-Anthony Towns in the first round of the tournament. Brunson has averaged 27.6 points, 7.2 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals over 35.7 minutes per game since the beginning of January.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Excellent display in OT win
Brunson racked up 36 points (13-21 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 7-10 FT), three rebounds and eight assists over 43 minutes during Wednesday's 149-148 overtime win over the Hawks. Karl-Anthony Towns stole the show with his 44-point performance Wednesday, but Brunson had an impressive performance as an offensive weapon and primary playmaker. The star guard was coming off a season-low eight-point display in the win over the Pacers on Tuesday, but he bounced back admirably and notched his 10th game this season with at least 30 points and eight assists. He enters the All-Star break with averages of 27.8 points, 7.0 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 0.8 steals per game since the beginning of February.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Season-low eight points Tuesday
Brunson closed with eight points (4-11 FG, 0-1 3Pt), two rebounds and seven assists in 23 minutes during Tuesday's 128-115 win over the Pacers. Brunson wasn't at his best Tuesday, with his eight points signifying a new season-low output. However, the superstar guard's quiet showing was bailed out by teammates Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart scoring 40 and 30 points, respectively. Brunson still has strong averages of 25.8 points, 8.3 assists, 2.1 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 2.1 three-pointers in 33.4 minutes while shooting 43.6 percent from deep over his last eight games.... Brunson shined in Monday's contest while doing it all for New York, including leading all players in scoring and assists to go along with a team-high-tying pair of steals and a half-dozen rebounds. Brunson, who also led all players in free throws, recorded his third game of the year with 40 or more points, and this was the first time he has done so while adding 10 assists. Brunson has dished out 10 or more dimes in 11 outings while hauling in six or more rebounds on five occasions.... See More ... See Less -

Over his last eight games, the superstar floor general has averaged 27.6 points, 7.8 assists, 2.5 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 2.8 three-pointers in 36.9 minutes. Additionally, Brunson is shooting 53.3 percent from the field and 46.8 percent from three-point land during this span.... See More ... See Less
