76ers' Joel Embiid: Ruled out for season
Embiid (knee) has been ruled out for the rest of the season by the 76ers, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Embiid has been managing a left knee issue all season and has been shut down for the rest of the year. The one-time NBA MVP showed flashes of his dominant form over the course of the 2024-25 campaign for Philadelphia but simply couldn't stay on the floor consistently, resulting in the team ruling him out for the remaining 24 regular-season games. Andre Drummond and Guerschon Yabusele will likely see a significant boost in minutes with the superstar big man on the mend.

Embiid (knee) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Golden State, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Embiid will miss his third consecutive contest due to the left knee injury, and his next chance to play will come Monday against Portland. However, the star big man was held out of Friday's practice, which bodes poorly for his return to game action by Monday. Embiid has appeared in only eight outings since Jan. 1, averaging 23.9 points, 9.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 0.9 blocks across 31.5 minutes per contest.

Embiid has missed the club's last two outings due to the left knee injury, and his absence from practices does not bode well for his potential return ahead of Saturday's game against the Warriors. The Sixers are expected to update the star big man's status Friday afternoon, though he can be considered questionable at best for Saturday's contest until then. Embiid (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Knicks, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports.
Embiid will miss a second straight game Wednesday for the 76ers, as he continues to manage his left knee issues. Fantasy managers probably saw this one coming. Embiid was previously listed as questionable, but the franchise is likely to be very cautious going forward. According to Charania, the 76ers are consulting with doctors and specialists to determine the next steps for his recovery after he underwent additional imaging Monday. In the meantime, guys like Guerschon Yabusele and Andre Drummond could see increased roles for the 76ers.

Embiid (knee) and the 76ers are consulting doctors and considering alternative options for his injured knee, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Embiid, who has played just 19 games this season as he continues to manage a left knee injury, is now considering alternative options after current load-management efforts and injections have not led to the desired improvements. Since returning from the All-Star break, Embiid has totaled 15 or fewer points in back-to-back games for the first time in nearly four years and reportedly experienced swelling in his left knee following Saturday's loss to the Nets. Although he's listed as questionable for Monday's contest against the Bulls, it wouldn't be shocking to see Embiid shut down for an extended period considering the repeated swelling in his knee and the proven ineffectiveness of current treatment methods.
