Top Noelvi Marte News

  • Reds' Noelvi Marte: Delivers three hits

Marte batted eighth and went 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, three RBI and an additional run scored in Wednesday's spring exhibition game against Team Cuba.

Statistics compiled against WBC teams don't count toward an MLB player's official line, but the home run was Marte's second this spring. He had finished up the 2025 season as the team's primary No. 2 batter, but the Reds are looking to return a rejuvenated Matt McLain to that role in 2026. Marte, who has been deployed at several spots in the order this spring, will have a home somewhere as the team's primary right fielder.

  • Reds' Noelvi Marte: Will play CF this spring

Marte will receive opportunities to play center field this spring, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

TJ Friedl is expected to get the most starts in center field this season, but the Reds want to see how Marte handles the new position. Marte moved from third base to right field in 2025, and though there were growing pains, he eventually proved himself to be competent and enters 2026 as the primary starter in right.

  • Reds' Noelvi Marte: Sitting down for Game 2

Marte isn't in the lineup for Game 2 of the NL Wild Card Series against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Marte will step out of the starting nine after going 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's Game 1 loss. Spencer Steer will move to the outfield as a result, opening up first base for Sal Stewart.

  • Reds' Noelvi Marte: Contributes offense, defense in win

Marte went 1-for-4 with a single and a run scored in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Pirates.

Marte, who homered in a 4-3 extra-innings win Wednesday, helped keep the Reds' postseason hopes alive for a second consecutive day. He singled in Cincinnati's first run and scored what eventually was the game-deciding run in the fifth inning. He wasn't done. In the ninth inning, the converted infielder robbed Bryan Reynolds of a game-tying home run over the right-field wall and preserved the win. With Austin Hays (back) still unavailable, Marte should continue to play daily.
