Lipscomb will start at third base and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
Called up from Triple-A Rochester on Saturday, Lipscomb will make his second straight start at third base after going 1-for-5 with a run scored in the Nationals' 14-6 win in the second game of the series with St. Louis. With Washington designating Nick Senzel for assignment Saturday, Lipscomb should have a fairly clear path to a regular role at the hot corner, if his performance warrants him sticking around as an everyday player. Over four stints in the majors this season, Lipscomb enters Sunday's game with a collective .236/.307/.268 slash line to go with one home run and 10 stolen bases across 137 plate appearances.

Nationals' Trey Lipscomb: Recalled by Washington
The Nationals recalled Lipscomb from Triple-A Rochester on Saturday.
Lipscomb will begin his fourth stint in the majors this season, as he takes the spot on the 26-man roster vacated by Nick Senzel, who was designated for assignment. After being optioned to Rochester on June 24, Lipscomb went 15-for-38 with five doubles, three home runs and 12 RBI. Lipscomb went 3-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, an RBI and three stolen bases in a 6-3 win over the White Sox during the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader.
The Nationals didn't record a single extra-base hit in the matinee, but Lipscomb had no problem getting himself into scoring position -- in addition to his 3-for-3 performance on the basepaths, he advanced to second base on a disengagement violation when he induced Chris Flexen to attempt a third pickoff in the second inning. After going 1-for-4 in the nightcap, Lipscomb is slashing .260/.339/.298 through his first 32 big-league games with one homer, 10 steals, nine RBI and 16 runs.

Lipscomb had started each of the Nationals' last seven games, but he recorded just three hits in 20 at-bats with five walks against four strikeouts over that stretch.
