Suarez (forearm) threw a successful bullpen session Sunday and is expected to start during the opening week of the regular season, though he will have workload limitations, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
The workload limitations are no surprise given manager Rob Thomson already admitted Suarez won't be fully stretched out by Opening Day, but it appears he won't be too far off from a full workload. Suarez appears fully past the bout of forearm tightness he experienced earlier in March, and he should be able to get into a game or two during the final stretch of spring training.

Suarez has been dealing with left forearm tightness for a week or so but has made some nice progress. While the Phillies have acknowledged he will not be fully stretched out for the start of the regular season, they still plan to carry Suarez on their Opening Day roster and build up his stamina on the fly.

The Phillies still intend to carry him in their rotation and will stretch him out on the fly. Suarez fell behind earlier this month when he experienced a bit of tightness in his left forearm as he prepared to represent Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic. He's been throwing on the side without issue since he arrived back at camp, but fantasy managers should expect some abbreviated outings early on.

Suarez (forearm) did some light tossing on flat ground Tuesday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
The left-hander had to be pulled out of the World Baseball Classic due to some minor tightness in his left forearm, but that he's throwing again after a couple days of treatment seems like a good sign. It's not clear when Suarez might be ready to pitch in a Grapefruit League game, but the Phillies are hoping he'll be ready to go on Opening Day.

Phillies' Ranger Suarez: Gets $2.95 million from Philly

Suarez signed a one-year, $2.95 million contract with the Phillies on Friday to avoid arbitration, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Suarez had a disappointing first half for Philly in 2022, but he was very good after the All-Star break and fantastic during the club's postseason run. For fantasy purposes, the left-hander would do well to regain some of the swing-and-miss he produced in 2021.
Suarez pitched five scoreless innings and earned the win during Tuesday's 7-0 victory over the Astros in Game 3 of the World Series, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out four.
Suarez made his second appearance of the World Series after coming in for relief during Game 1, and he notched his second postseason win on the mound. The southpaw rarely found himself in trouble against the feisty Houston lineup -- the Astros had runners on first and third with two outs in the second inning but he was able to strike out Chas McCormick to end the inning. The 27-year-old is now 2-0 with a solid 1.27 ERA across 14.2 innings during the playoffs, showing off his reliability and versatility in his first career postseason. Suarez threw 76 pitches, so it is unclear if he will take the mound again before the World Series is over.
Suarez pitched a perfect two-thirds of an inning and earned the save Sunday during Game 5 of the NLCS in a 4-3 win over the Padres.
Suarez relieved David Robertson with a one-run lead in the ninth after a pair of walks put the go-ahead run on first, but he was able to get Austin Nola to fly out for the final out, sending the Phillies to the World Series. The 27-year-old had started Game 3 and pitched five innings just two days ago, so it was a gutsy performance to close out the series in Game 5. Suarez has now pitched nine innings in the postseason and has allowed just two runs while striking out eight.

Suarez looked to be in line for an easy win after beginning the game with three scoreless frames and being staked to a 7-0 lead. Things fell apart for him in the fourth inning, however, as he was chased after a Carson Kelly bases-loaded double with two outs closed Arizona's deficit to 7-6. Suarez wasn't entirely at fault for the disastrous inning -- he would have been out of danger two batters earlier if not for a fielding error behind him -- but it was nonetheless his shortest start since he went only three innings against the Dodgers on May 20. Suarez still had a pretty strong August overall, posting a 2.83 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 26:12 K:BB over 28.2 innings across five starts.
