Angels' Chase Silseth: Eyeing return in three weeks
Silseth (elbow) said Wednesday that he expects to return from the 15-day injured list in around three weeks, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Silseth received good news earlier in the week, when both of the doctors who evaluated his injured elbow determined he was dealing with nothing more than inflammation. While Silseth thus appears likely to resume throwing soon and steer clear of an extended absence, he'll still need more than the minimum 15 days to make a full recovery from the injury and get fully ramped up. Jose Soriano was moved from the bullpen earlier this week and will serve as the Angels' No. 5 starter while Silseth is on the shelf.

Angels' Chase Silseth: MRI shows inflammation
Silseth was diagnosed with right elbow inflammation after undergoing an MRI on Wednesday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
The diagnosis comes as good news, as Silseth has been cleared of any ligament damage in his pitching elbow. The right-hander will still need some down time to let the inflammation calm down, so his stay on the injured list could last longer than 15 days. The Angels have moved Jose Soriano into the rotation to fill in for Silseth.

Angels' Chase Silseth: Heads to 15-day IL
The Angels placed Silseth on the 15-day injured list Monday due to right elbow inflammation.
Silseth struggled over his first two starts, giving up six runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out 12 over eight innings, going 0-1 over that span. Jose Soriano will take Silseth's spot in the rotation, getting the start Wednesday against the Rays.

Silseth (0-1) allowed three runs on three hits and two walks over five innings Sunday, striking out seven and taking a loss against Boston.
All three hits against Silseth came in the span of four batters during the third inning, and all three left the park. He's now given up six earned runs through eight innings in two starts despite a strong 12:4 K:BB. Silseth forced nine swinging strikes on 91 pitches Sunday after getting 13 whiffs on 76 pitches in his season debut. Silseth is currently lined up for a rematch in Boston next weekend.

Angels' Chase Silseth: Yields four runs
Silseth allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks over three innings Monday. He struck out five and did not factor into the decision during the win over Miami.
Silseth was tagged for all four runs in the first inning and was able to settle in for a pair of scoreless frames. He needed 76 pitches in the short outing but managed to force 14 whiffs on 37 swings. However, his velocity was down a touch, with the fastball averaging 93.8 mph. Silseth is currently projected for a home matchup with the Red Sox this weekend.

Angels' Chase Silseth: Delivering strong numbers in spring
Silseth has posted a 1.08 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 5:2 K:BB over 8.1 innings in Cactus League play.
Silseth hasn't piled up strikeouts this spring, though he did record seven punchouts over five frames in a "B" game March 16, per Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register. Silseth has the stuff to miss bats at the big-league level, as evidenced by his 25.3 percent strikeout rate over 52.1 big-league innings last season, though he also posted an ugly 11.8 percent walk rate. The right-hander will have the opportunity to log his first full MLB season as a starter in 2024, making him a sleeper candidate in fantasy, though there's a wide range of possibilities for what his numbers may look like by the end of the campaign.

Angels' Chase Silseth: Tosses four frames
Silseth allowed one run on two hits and three walks over four innings Friday in the Angels' win over Oakland. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision.
Silseth returned from the injured list Friday to make his first appearance since Aug. 26. The lone damage against him came on Brent Rooker's RBI double in the third inning. Silseth posted a 3.96 ERA with a 56:26 K:BB through 52.1 MLB innings this season. In seven appearances since the All-Star break, he registered a 3.21 ERA.

Angels' Chase Silseth: Back from injured list
The Angels reinstated Silseth from the 7-day concussion IL on Thursday.
Silseth landed on the 7-day injured list Aug. 29, but lingering discomfort and uneasiness prolonged his stay. He made two rehab starts with Triple-A Salt Lake, giving up two runs over 3.2 innings while striking out five batters and walking sixth, and he is now set to make his final major-league start of the season Friday versus Oakland. Kolton Ingram was optioned to Salt Lake in a corresponding move.
