Player Outlook
Paul McIntosh is one of Miami's top prospects and split most of last season between Double-A and Triple-A, and he had a .774 OPS with 13 homers in the minors last year. The club's duo of Nick Fortes and Christian Bethancourt are hardly a top catching tandem, so there should be a path to playing time at the big-league level. However, McIntosh has just 28 appearances under his belt at Triple-A, so the Marlins may want him to receive more experience at that level before jumping to the majors at such a demanding position.

  • Marlins' Paul McIntosh: Returns from IL

McIntosh (oblique) has gone 5-for-22 with a home run and three RBI in six games since being reinstated from Triple-A Jacksonville's 7-day injured list June 20. Prior to being deactivated in the middle of May due to an oblique strain, McIntosh had been playing at Double-A Pensacola, but the Marlins have opted to move the 25-year-old backstop up to Triple-A now that he's healthy again. McIntosh has struggled in his initial exposure to the International League, striking out at a 45.5 percent clip thus far while failing to draw a walk in his six games.

  • Marlins' Paul McIntosh: Begins rehab assignment

McIntosh (oblique) began a rehab assignment with Single-A Jupiter on Tuesday and has gone 0-for-8 with six strikeouts in his first two games with the affiliate. McIntosh remains on Double-A Pensacola's 7-day injured list while he continues to work back to 100 percent after suffering an oblique injury May 2. The 25-year-old backstop has struggled to regain his timing at the plate through the first two games of his rehab assignment and may stick around at Jupiter through the weekend before potentially rejoining Pensacola next week.

  • Marlins' Paul McIntosh: On IL at Double-A

McIntosh is on the 7-day injured list at Double-A Pensacola with an undisclosed injury. He has not played since May 2 and was officially placed on the IL on May 9. McIntosh is old for a Double-A prospect, as he turns 26 in November, but he didn't sign until he was 24, so he was a late entry into pro ball. He has a career .262/.377/.477 slash line with 17 home runs and 10 steals in 103 games at Double-A.
