Top Brent Rooker News

  • Athletics' Brent Rooker: Homer, three hits Thursday

Rooker went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and a double in Thursday's 10-5 loss to the Angels.

Rooker opened the scoring in the first inning with a two-run, 440-foot blast off Tyler Anderson, his 11th homer of the year. It's the first long ball in 10 games for Rooker, who'd gone just 6-for-38 (.158) in that span. He's now slashing .245/.313/.456 with 25 RBI, 31 runs scored and a pair of stolen bases across 224 plate appearances this year.

  • Athletics' Brent Rooker: Launches homer No. 10

Rooker went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run and a second run scored in Saturday's 11-7 win over the Yankees.

Getting the start in right field, the 30-year-old slugger took Carlos Rodon deep in the third inning to give the A's a 4-0 lead, and Rooker his 10th homer of the season. It was his fifth appearance of the season in the outfield, crossing an eligibility threshold in some fantasy formats, but his bat plays at any position. Through 40 games, Rooker is slashing .253/.316/.494 with 22 RBI and 27 runs.

  • Athletics' Brent Rooker: Three hits, two steals in loss

Rooker went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, one RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Mariners.

Rooker has racked up five multi-hit efforts over his last 10 games, going 12-for-39 (.308) in that span. He's not known for his speed, so it was surprising to see him log a pair of steals in this contest, which were his first two thefts of the season. The three-hit effort boosted his batting average to .255, and he's added an .820 OPS, nine home runs, 19 RBI, 25 runs scored, seven doubles and a triple over 37 contests. Rooker has topped the 30-homer mark in each of the last two years and is on pace to do it again in 2025.

  • Athletics' Brent Rooker: Sets off ninth-inning explosion

Rooker went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 7-1 win against Texas on Wednesday.

The game was tied 1-1 entering the ninth inning, when Rooker unknotted the score with a two-run blast to left field. The Athletics tacked on four more runs later in the frame on a Lawrence Butler grand slam to secure the victory and move back above .500. Rooker had gone seven games without a long ball before Wednesday's blast, but he's been swinging an effective bat of late with three multi-hit performance across his past four contests. He's at a .258/.313/.508 slash line with eight homers, 17 RBI and 19 runs through 134 plate appearances on the season.

  • Athletics' Brent Rooker: Getting first day off

Rooker isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers.

Rooker's performance has been trending in the right direction as of late, as he's gone 8-for-25 with three homers, five RBI and eight runs scored over the past week. He'll take a seat Thursday for the first time this season, opening up a spot in the lineup for Seth Brown to serve as the Athletics' designated hitter.

  • Athletics' Brent Rooker: Homers in win

Rooker went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and an additional run scored in Thursday's 8-0 win over the White Sox.

Rooker put the finishing touches on a convincing A's victory, launching a 415-foot homer off Bryse Wilson in the ninth inning for his fifth long ball this season. It's the first homer in 10 games for Rooker, who'd gone 7-for-37 (.189) in his previous nine contests. He's now slashing .232/.276/.451 with 10 RBI and 12 runs scored through 87 plate appearances this year. Thursday's contest was also Rooker's third this season playing in the outfield, as the A's consider ways to make room in the lineup for top prospect Nick Kurtz.

  • Athletics' Brent Rooker: Plays second game in OF

Rooker went 2-for-4 with three runs scored in Tuesday's victory over the White Sox. He started in left field. It was the second game he's played in the outfield this season.

Rooker is off to a slow start to the season by hitting .205/.256/.667 but does have four home runs, so he may be heating up at the plate. Rooker didn't play in the outfield last season after May due to a right forearm injury that required surgery in the offseason. He's mostly played DH this season but could soon qualify in the outfield again after playing just 14 games in the field last season. However, Rooker's usage in the outfield could be bigger news for Nick Kurtz, the top prospect tearing it up at Triple-A, as moving Rooker to the outfield could allow the A's to call up Kurtz to play at DH and 1B.
