    Parker did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's extra-innings loss to Kansas City, pitching six scoreless innings while allowing five hits and two walks. He struck out five.

    The rookie left-hander entered this outing with an unsightly 5.59 ERA in 19.1 September frames and stymied the ice-cold Royals over his 91 pitches. Although he's struggled to contain lineups, Parker has been a consistent source of strikeouts, as he notched his eighth start out of his last nine with five or more Ks. Overall, the 24-year-old now sports a 4.29 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 133:43 K:BB across 151 innings this season. Parker is not currently scheduled to make another start this season but may appear out of the bullpen this weekend.

  • Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Surrenders five runs in loss

    Parker (7-10) took the loss Tuesday against the Mets, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out one.

    Parker labored through this 78-pitch outing that included allowing four runs on three hits and two walks in the third. The New York lineup appeared to have the rookie southpaw's number all evening, as Parker generated a paltry four whiffs and has allowed five runs to the Mets in both his starts against them. Overall, he's now pitched to a 4.44 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 128:41 K:BB across 146 innings this season. The 24-year-old Parker is currently slated to make his next start against the Royals at home next week.

  • Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Quality start in no-decision

    Parker came away with a no-decision in Thursday's loss to the Marlins after he allowed two unearned runs on three hits and no walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out five.

    Parker was fantastic Thursday, allowing only four baserunners and two unearned runs while pitching into the seventh inning for the seventh time this season. Parker has now recorded 11 quality starts in his rookie campaign, and five of those have come over his last eight starts. The 24-year-old hasn't missed a turn through the rotation since being called up in mid-April, and he's racked up 127 strikeouts with a 4.24 ERA over 142.1 innings.

  • Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Pitches poorly in no-decision

    Parker allowed four runs on six hits and four walks while striking out five batters over 3.1 innings in a no-decision in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader with Pittsburgh.

    Parker fell behind quickly in the contest, allowing a pair of runs in the first inning and another in the second. He was able to get through a scoreless third but was pulled in the fourth after allowing the first two batters he faced to reach base (he was credited with one out when Alika Williams was thrown out trying to score on a double). Overall, Parker threw just 46 of 78 pitches for strikes and tied a season high with four free passes. This marks the third time across his past five starts that he's failed to complete more than four frames.

    Parker (7-9) took the loss Sunday against the Cubs, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out eight in six innings.

    Parker matched his season best with eight punchouts, throwing a whopping 72 percent of his pitches for strikes. The 24-year-old pitched well despite taking the loss, allowing one extra-base hit while notching his 10th quality start of the season. Parker now owns a respectable 4.27 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 117:35 K:BB in 132.2 innings (25 starts). Parker will look to get back in the win column his next time out, currently scheduled for next weekend in Pittsburgh.
