Pallante (1-0) allowed an inherited runner to score but was not charged with a run in one inning of work, earning the win despite taking a blown save Wednesday versus the Rockies.

The Cardinals retook the lead in the eighth and held onto it, putting Pallante in line for his first win in six appearances this season. The right-hander has struggled a bit with a 7.11 ERA and 1.74 WHIP over 6.1 innings, and he's added one hold. For now, he's likely to see work in middle relief.

Pallante allowed a walk and struck out one in a scoreless inning during Wednesday's Grapefruit League game versus the Marlins.
Pallante has a 4:2 K:BB over three scoreless innings for the Cardinals in spring training. The reliever is still considered part of the core of the bullpen, per John Denton of MLB.com. Pallante had a just alright showing for Italy at the World Baseball Classic, allowing two runs on three hits, six walks and a hit batsman while striking out two over four innings across three appearances. He's unlikely to be in the conversation for saves with Ryan Helsley and Giovanny Gallegos around, but Pallante could be a steady source of holds if he can maintain a high-leverage role.

He pitched to a 3.17 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 73:40 K:BB across 108 innings, making 10 of his 47 appearances as a starter in 2022.

He's added seven holds, but he'll likely see lower-leverage assignments while he's struggling.

Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Earns win over Yankees
Pallante (5-4) allowed three hits and two walks over four scoreless innings to earn the win Friday over the Yankees.
Making his first relief appearance since June 15, Pallante delivered an excellent outing to keep the Cardinals in the contest after a lackluster start from Dakota Hudson. Manager Oli Marmol hinted after the game that Hudson's spot in the rotation could be up for grabs, with Pallante the most likely candidate to fill it, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Pallante has excelled in a versatile role this year, logging a 3.03 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 61:29 K:BB across 86 innings in 29 appearances (10 starts). Hudson's spot in the rotation comes up again next week in Colorado, which would likely be a daunting assignment for either pitcher.

Pallante will move to the bullpen after the Cardinals acquired Jordan Montgomery and Jose Quintana on Wednesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

He owns a 2.10 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 33:22 K:BB in 55.2 innings across 23 appearances (five starts) overall. The rookie right-hander is projected for a road start in Atlanta next week.

Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Gets no help in loss
Pallante (2-3) allowed three runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out two in six innings, taking the loss Friday versus the Cubs.
Pallante has now taken the loss in three straight appearances, though this one can be blamed on the Cardinals' lack of offense. They mustered just seven baserunners (five hits, one walk, one hit batter) while giving Pallante no run support. The rookie right-hander still has a strong 2.03 ERA, but his 1.38 WHIP and 31:21 K:BB remain lackluster through 22 outings (four starts). He's pitched fairly well in his starts to maintain a place in the rotation, with Friday being his longest outing of the season. He's projected for a favorable home start versus the Marlins next week.
