Brewers' Christian Yelich: Resumes on-field work
Yelich (back) was spotted running on the field prior to Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Pirates, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
While Yelich's ability to take part in some form of on-field activity is a positive sign as he works his way back from a lower-back strain, he has yet to resume swinging a bat or playing catch since landing on the 10-day injured list on April 16. The Brewers haven't set a firm target date for Yelich's return to the lineup, but at the very least, he doesn't look as though he'll be ready to come off the IL when first eligible this weekend.

Brewers' Christian Yelich: Lands on injured list
The Brewers placed Yelich on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a lower-back strain.
Yelich's move to the IL is retroactive to Saturday, so he will be eligible to return beginning next Tuesday. It's unclear whether or not the 32-year-old outfielder will be ready to return by then, but his condition has improved since sustaining the injury during Friday's game against Baltimore. While he's out, Blake Perkins will likely continue seeing regular playing time in the outfield, and the Brewers will promote Owen Miller from Triple-A Nashville to add to their depth.

Brewers' Christian Yelich: Absence continues Tuesday
Yelich (back) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.
The 32-year-old hasn't seen the field since Friday, and he'll sit for the fourth straight game as he continues to deal with the back injury. According to Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Brewers considered Tuesday a deadline for a potential IL move for Yelich, but it remains to be seen if he's shifted to the shelf.

Brewers' Christian Yelich: Held out again Monday
Yelich (back) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game versus the Padres.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said pregame that Yelich is "about the same" in regard to his progress from a back injury, although the club is hopeful some medication the outfielder is taking will help, per Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. A decision as to whether Yelich will be placed on the injured list will be made Tuesday. He hasn't played since Friday.

Brewers' Christian Yelich: Could land on IL
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Saturday that Yelich (back) won't play during the rest of Milwaukee's weekend series against Baltimore and may require a trip to the injured list, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Murphy added that a decision on Yelich will likely come before Monday's series opener against the Padres. If the 32-year-old outfielder's condition doesn't improve by then, he would likely move to the IL, opening the door for Blake Perkins to see regular reps in the outfield. Yelich has been scorching hot to begin the year, slashing .333/.422/.744 across 45 plate appearances.

Brewers' Christian Yelich: Held out Saturday
Yelich (back) isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Saturday's game against the Orioles.
Yelich felt his back tighten up on him while running during Friday's win and was removed from the game in the second inning. The veteran outfielder has a history with back injuries, so it's not too surprising to see Milwaukee rest him to avoid making the issue worse. Sal Frelick will shift to left field in Yelich's place, allowing Blake Perkins to start in center field and bat ninth.

Yelich was removed from Friday's game against the Orioles early due to lower-back discomfort, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
It's not immediately apparent how serious Yelich's injury is, but the decision to remove him may be precautionary, as he has dealt with back issues in the past. The veteran outfielder singled during his lone at-bat Friday during the top of first inning and was replaced on defense by Blake Perkins before the bottom half of the second.

Brewers' Christian Yelich: Tacks on three RBI
Yelich went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a walk in Tuesday's victory over the Reds.
All of Yelich's RBI over his first eight games came via the home run, but he racked up three of them Tuesday without the aid of the long ball. Yelich continues to swing it well early, and he sits sixth in the league among qualified players with a 1.116 OPS.
