The New York Mets are interested in catcher Miguel Olivo and could pursue him in free agency this offseason, according to the New York Post's Joel Sherman.

The Mariners have a $3-million option on Olivo but have already announced they will decline it.

The Mets are looking to find cheap power to add to the lineup, and Olivo is reportedly someone in whom they had interest at the trading deadline.

The 34-year-old catcher has hit at least 12 home runs in seven consecutive seasons and has 141 in his career. Olivo hit .222/.239/.381 with 12 home runs in 323 plate appearances last season.
