It's the last chance to prepare – or qualify – for the U.S. Open as the PGA Tour heads to Toronto for the 2023 RBC Canadian Open this week. There are six spots left for next week's major at Los Angeles Country Club, with players moving into the top 60 by Sunday earning spots. The RBC Canadian Open winner also gets in if it's his second PGA Tour victory since last year's U.S. Open. One player in the RBC Canadian Open 2023 field who doesn't need to worry is Rory McIlroy, who has won the past two editions and ranks third in the world. He is one of 10 golfers ranked in the top 30 scheduled to tee off Thursday at Oakdale Golf and Country Club. Matt Fitzpatrick also will be on hand to prepare for defense of his U.S. Open title next week in L.A.

Caesars Sportsbook lists McIlroy as the 9-2 favorite in its latest 2023 RBC Canadian Open golf odds. Tyrrell Hatton (12-1), Sam Burns (14-1), Cameron Young (14-1) and Fitzpatrick (14-1) also are top contenders in the RBC Canadian Open 2023 field. Justin Rose is priced at 18-1, and Corey Conners is the top Canadian at 20-1, alongside Shane Lowry and Tommy Fleetwood. Before making any 2023 RBC Canadian Open picks, you really need to see the PGA predictions and best bets from golf betting and fantasy expert Sia Nejad.

Nejad specializes in betting and DFS in golf, among other sports. He's had incredible success in the outright and first-round leader markets and betting head-to-head matchups. At the Wells Fargo, he had Wyndham Clark among his longshot outrights, backing the 75-1 shot before he dominated at Quail Hollow for his first PGA Tour victory.

In 2022, Nejad hit six first-round leaders in a 12-week span while peppering in tournament outrights throughout the year. In 2023, Sportsline debuted "The Early Wedge," and in the first three months of the show, he hit two FRLs and three outright winners. Nejad also had a winning head-to-head record in eight of 10 weeks (including full tournament sweeps on head-to-head plays). He was up more than 70 units over that three-month span.

Now, Nejad has focused his attention on the 2023 RBC Canadian Open field and has locked in his best bets, top sleepers and favorites to avoid. See all his picks at SportsLine

Top 2023 RBC Canadian Open expert picks

In a stunning move, Nejad is fading McIlroy, even though he has consecutive top-10 finishes. But the way he finished last week was indicative of his problems. The Northern Irishman had six bogeys in his final round at Muirfield. He tied for seventh after sharing the lead entering the day. Nejad says "there's simply no chance that I put my money behind (McIlroy)," raising concerns about the 34-year-old's wedge game. Four of those bogeys came with a wedge in his hand. That, and his driving accuracy problems (189th on tour), won't do him any favors this week.

On the other hand, Hatton has been playing well no matter which club is in his hand, and Nejad likes him this week.  "He has the complete game to contend here," Nejad says, "particularly with a slightly watered-down field." Hatton has five straight top-20 finishes, going 42-under par over that span. The 31-year-old also is 11th in strokes gained putting, 12th in total driving and 13th in scrambling. That's why he ranks fourth in scoring average (69.52). Hatton has seven worldwide victories, with his only one on the PGA Tour coming in 2020, but he is "due for a win," Nejad says. See who to back here
