With a limited field taking on the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play this week in Austin, the PGA Tour will also offer an alternative event for those that won't be competing in Texas. The 2023 Corales Puntacana Championship is played at Corales Golf Club in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and began as a Web.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour) event in 2016 and then transitioned to a PGA Tour event in 2018. The winner will earn 300 FedEx Cup points and a $684,000 share of a $3.8 million purse.

Thomas Dietry is the highest-ranked player in the 2023 Corales Puntancana Championship field at No. 82 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Fan favorite Joel Dahmen will also be in the field after winning this event in 2021. Dietry and Dahmen are listed at 20-1 in the 2023 Corales Puntacana Championship odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while Wyndham Clark is the 12-1 favorite. Before locking in your 2023 Corales Puntacana Championship picks, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

SportsLine's proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up over $8,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure's model predicted Jon Rahm to finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions, the American Express and the Genesis Invitational. The model also included J.T. Poston in its best bets to win the 2022 John Deere Classic. That bet hit at +5500, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned almost $1,100. At the 2022 Masters, McClure's model was all over Scottie Scheffler's first career major championship victory heading into the weekend.

In addition, McClure's best bets included Collin Morikawa winning outright at the 2021 Open Championship, even though he was listed as a massive 40-1 long shot. The model was also all over Rahm's (10-1) first career major championship victory at the 2021 U.S. Open. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the weekend, but the model still projected him as the winner.

This same model has also nailed a whopping eight majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the 2023 Corales Puntacana field is locked, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.

Top 2023 Corales Puntacana Championship predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the Corales Puntacana Championship 2023: Dahmen, who is one of the top favorites on the PGA odds board, stumbles this week and doesn't even crack the top 10. He has not finished inside the top 40 in six straight PGA Tour events, and he has not been inside the top 60 in four tournaments in a row.

Dahmen has missed the cut in two of his last four events, failing to finish under par in any of those tournaments. He had to withdraw from this tournament following the first round last season due to an illness. The competition this weekend might not be as strong as recent weeks, but the model still believes Dahmen will struggle at the 2023 Corales Puntacana Championship.

Another surprise: Matt Wallace, a 35-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Wallace is currently No. 175 in the Official World Golf Ranking, but he's coming off an impressive T-7 finish at last week's Valspar Championship.

Wallace was once ranked as high as No. 23 in the world. He's got four DP World Tour wins to his credit and even had a T-3 finish at the 2019 PGA Championship. He's also had four top-30 finishes in the last seven events that he's played worldwide and he's got one of the best short games in the world, ranking second on the PGA Tour in strokes gained: around the green. With the tour's best players in Austin, Wallace has a great chance for a strong finish this week. See who else to pick here
