It's the final PGA Tour event before the season's next major championship, and a strong field is set to tee off Thursday at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson. Scottie Scheffler, a Dallas resident and the world's second-ranked golfer, leads a field that features 10 of the world's top 40. Also teeing off at TPC Craig Ranch is K.H. Lee, who has won both editions of the Byron Nelson on the course in McKinney, Texas. It is one of the easier tests on the PGA Tour, and Lee went a combined 51-under par in his two victories. No golfer has won an event three straight times since 2011. Hideki Matsuyama, the 2021 Masters champion, and former Byron Nelson winners Jason Day and Adam Scott also will draw a lot of attention. Tyrrell Hatton (No. 17) and Tom Kim (No. 19) are the highest-ranked golfers behind Scheffler in the AT&T Byron Nelson 2023 field.

Jordan Spieth was the second favorite but had to withdraw on Monday due to a wrist injury, leaving Scheffler as the clear +450 favorite in Caesars Sportsbook's 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson odds. Hatton (+1400), Day (+1800) and Lee (+1800) are also expected to be top contenders in the AT&T Byron Nelson 2023 field. Before making any 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson picks, be sure you check out the PGA Tour predictions and best bets from SportsLine golf insider Sia Nejad.

Nejad specializes in betting and DFS in golf, among other sports. He's had incredible success in the outright market, first-round leader market and betting head-to-head matchups. Last week, he had Wyndham Clark among his longshot outrights, backing the 75-1 shot before he dominated at Quail Hollow for his first PGA Tour victory.

In 2022, he hit six first-round leaders in a 12-week span while peppering in tournament outrights throughout the year. In 2023, Sportsline debuted "The Early Wedge," and in the first three months of the show, he hit two FRLs and three outright winners. Nejad also had a winning head-to-head record in eight of 10 weeks (including full tournament sweeps on head-to-head plays). He was up more than 70 units over that three-month span.

Now, Nejad has studied the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson field and has locked in his best bets, top sleepers and favorites to avoid. You can head to SportsLine now to see all of Nejad's PGA picks and analysis.

Top 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson expert picks

Scheffler is the obvious favorite, but Nejad is fading him slightly and banking on someone else to finish on top. The former University of Texas star could retake the No. 1 ranking, so he will have motivation. He also could have some rust. Scheffler hasn't played since the RBC Heritage three weeks ago, and he'll be focused on preparing for next week's PGA Championship. His past two outings have been among his worst of 2023. Of course, he still finished T-11 (Masters) and T-10 (RBC), but he might not run away with this. The price is "simply too short," Nejad says.

On the other hand, Tom Kim will bring a decent double-digit payout and looks to be on the verge of a breakthrough. Nejad says the 20-year-old "is finally starting to round into the form that we witnessed last summer." Kim already has two PGA Tour victories, with one coming at the Wyndham Championship last August. He's 22nd in strokes gained total, 13th in total driving and 11th in greens in regulation. It all comes down to putting (138th in strokes gained). Nejad knows that if Kim can get the job done on the greens, he can win anywhere. See who he is backing at SportsLine
