Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Dealing with left forearm soreness

Arenado was removed from Saturday's game against the Giants with left forearm discomfort, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Arenado was hit in the right arm by a pitch Wednesday but seems to be battling through some pain in his opposite forearm. Considering the Cardinals were ahead by five runs when Arenado was removed, it very well could be precautionary. Regardless, his status should be monitored ahead of Sunday's series finale.

  • Jake Burger 3B | MIA

Marlins' Jake Burger: Not starting Saturday

Burger isn't in the Marlins' lineup for Saturday's game against Seattle.

Burger will get a day to clear his head Saturday after going just 1-for-21 at the plate over his last five games. Emmanuel Rivera will take over at the hot corner and bat eighth in Burger's place.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Back in lineup

Arenado (elbow) is starting at third base and batting fifth Saturday against the Giants, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Arenado suffered a bruised elbow after getting hit by a pitch during Wednesday's contest and said after the game that his goal was to return Saturday. After a few days of rest, the 33-year-old third baseman will achieve his goal and return to face the Giants with former teammate Jordan Hicks on the mound. Arenado has slashed .270/.333/.365 with six RBI across 72 plate appearances since the beginning of June.

  • Mark Vientos 3B | NYM

    Mets' Mark Vientos: Sitting Saturday

Vientos isn't in the Mets' lineup Saturday against the Cubs.

Vientos will get a day to regroup Saturday after going 0-for-9 with three strikeouts over his last two games. Jose Iglesias will get the nod at the hot corner instead while batting ninth.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Stays hot Friday

Riley went 2-for-4 with two walks, a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's 8-1 win over the Yankees.

The 27-year-old slugger has flipped the switch in June. Riley has at least one extra-base hit in six of his last seven games, batting a blistering .545 (12-for-22) over that stretch with four doubles, four homers, nine runs and nine RBI. After a rough, injury-plagued start to the season, the power surge has pushed his slash line up to .251/.324/.420.

  • Reds' Jeimer Candelario: Homers twice in win

Candelario went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Friday's 5-2 win over Boston.

Candelario had been battling tendinitis in the back of his right knee, per Mark Sheldon of MLB.com, but he was ready to go Friday with the help of the Reds' training staff. The knee didn't cool off Candelario's scoring bat. He homered in his first two plate appearances -- the second two-HR game this month -- and is batting .347/.351/.736 over 18 games in June.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Transferred to 60-day IL

The Dodgers shifted Muncy (oblique) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Muncy was placed on the 10-day IL on May 17 due to a Grade 1 right oblique strain. It took him nearly a month to begin taking dry swings, and he has otherwise been limited to fielding grounders and running the bases. As he's still not close to beginning a rehab assignment, the Dodgers opted to move Muncy to the 60-day IL, meaning he won't be eligible to return until after the All-Star break. In a corresponding move, the Dodgers activated Kyle Hurt (shoulder) from the 60-day IL and optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, per Harris.

  • Cavan Biggio 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Cavan Biggio: Sitting against southpaw

Biggio isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

Biggio has been platooning with Enrique Hernandez at third base since being acquired by the Dodgers. With lefty Patrick Sandoval on the mound for the Angels, it will be Hernandez who fills the hot corner Friday.

  • Reds' Jeimer Candelario: Back in lineup

Candelario is batting third and the designated hitter for Friday's game against Boston.

Candelario had been battling unspecified tendinitis the past few days and missed the Reds' most recent game. However, he'll be back in action Friday, claiming DH duties.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Sitting as expected

Arenado (elbow) isn't in the starting lineup Thursday against the Giants, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Arenado said Wednesday that he's aiming to return to the Cardinals' lineup Saturday, so his absence from Thursday's starting nine hardly comes as a surprise. Brandon Crawford will get the nod at the hot corner and bat seventh while Arenado continues to recover.
