The Big 12 had six teams in the first Associated Press Top 25 that came out Saturday, matching the SEC for the most teams in the poll.

Oklahoma, the preseason favorite, debuted at No. 4 and received one vote for the top spot. West Virginia was No. 11, Texas No. 15, Oklahoma State No. 19, TCU No. 20 and State" data-canon="Kansas Jayhawks" data-type="SPORTS_OBJECT_TEAM" id="shortcode0"> No. 22.
