Who's Playing

Santa Clara @ Washington State

Regular Season Records: Santa Clara 21-11; Washington State 19-14

What to Know

The Santa Clara Broncos and the Washington State Cougars are set to clash at 11 p.m. ET March 15 at Wallis Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum in the first round of the NIT. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W.'

It was close but no cigar for the Broncos as they fell 75-72 to the Saint Mary's Gaels last Monday. Despite the defeat, Santa Clara got a solid performance out of forward Josip Vrankic, who had 21 points along with eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Washington State came up short against the UCLA Bruins this past Thursday, falling 75-65. Guard Michael Flowers had a pretty forgettable game, finishing with only eight points on 3-for-12 shooting in his 33 minutes on the court.

A couple offensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: The Broncos rank seventh in college basketball when it comes to field goal percentage, with 49% on the season. On the other end of the spectrum, the Cougars have only been able to knock down 41% percent of their shots, which is the 30th lowest field goal percentage in college basketball. We'll see if Santa Clara's 8% advantage translates to a win.
